Default Response to question about limiting amount of iron

Hi there.

This is something each of you will you'll want to take up with your doctor but the basic concern is iron overload. Men only require 10 mg per day and can usually achieve it if their diet includes red meats, whole grains and leafy vegetables. They are unable to lose iron through menses as premenopausal women do, and there's concern that iron buildup is unhealthy for cardiovascular and other systems. This goes for both sexes. You may wish to research.

Women who are still menstruating have an RDA of 18 mg of iron and it's not generally recommended that post menopausal women take an iron supplement (although vegetarians are sometimes found to have low iron stores in liver, muscle and bone marrow.) Again, something to discuss with your health care provider.

The original All One formula contains 18 mg of iron. Here's how the others rank:

Rice Base: Iron free
Green Phyto Base: 9 mg
Fruit Anti-oxidant: Iron free
Active Senior: Iron free

You can do additional comparisons and find more details at All One's site. (www.all-one.com/en/supple...erals.htm)

We feel the best thing to do is select the formula most appropriate for your health needs and if necessary, supplement with additional amino acids. As I mentioned, we'll have a blend to match the Original Formula within a couple of weeks, but if you don't want to wait, you can search online using the chart I linked above.
