I don't have a lot of experience with grief but I am thinking about you today.

I am sorry to hear about your stepdad. I know that when people commit suicide, it's often said that they were selfish and didn't think about the pain they would inflict on families. I don't tend to see it that way. I think the person must have been in a hell of a lot of pain or discomfort to take his or her life.

I hope you can be of some solace to your mother who must be really suffering right now. I agree that your daughter needs to put her petty concerns aside.

Take care of yourself through this physicially, get enough rest etc and accept any support that is offered from friends and family.
