Default AF-Daily, Monday, 8th Feb

Greetings all,

Had a good day at work, can't complain. Been moody last few days, but feeling better now.

Afew days ago, I mentioned my concern about my religion and my brick-wall.... today in my inbox...

Alone with Others
The fundamental basis for spiritual development is recognizing suffering and knowing that there is something you can do about it. That will be the basis for the individual’s spiritual path. The spiritual path is very individualized. We have groups, religious traditions, centers, and monasteries, but the development is very much up to each individual.
- Gelek Rimpoche, The Four Noble Truths

I am grateful that that email came to me...

ANYWAY - this is not a post about that... ANOTHER email popped into my inbox...

from the 8 week challenge folk that I joined to lose weight for charity back in October 09.

WELL... just as I was trying to plan my goals for 2010 and doing badly by myself so far... I was considering getting a PT for a few months.... make it happen etc.

DH and I are saving for an OS Holiday at the end of the year, and I didn't want to spend the $$$ on anything we could go without (YES - AL ...goodbye!)

Tonight, new 8 week challenge in inbox....$100 AUD (ummm.. $80US) for 8 weeks...20 going to charity... guess what! ...........it finishes up 2 days before I turn 40 (29 on this post!!)....................SO................

Exercise has helped me with ridding AL... and I'm struggling on my own. I have family coming for my birthday......NEED distraction..................

Hands up who thinks I should go for it?

Free before and after shots, for any who vote .....even maybe a blog...

40 and fit.... Vs........ 40 and frumpy...Hmmmmm...............

GO FOR IT LEELOU!!! 29 and FIT not FRUMPY!!!

Interesting how the universe speaks to us sometimes, isn't it!! I'm glad you shared both of those inbox stories - they both made me smile.

Happy AF Monday one and all! I am driving my Dad to the University hospital today. This is his 6 month checkup and scan (CT?) after the Big Surgery last summer. I have to smile as more and more I just take these things in stride, despite the knowledge that he will be grumpy and it will be a trying morning. I used to get all stressed out about this sort of stuff days in advance (and drank over it back in the day). I'm glad I have somehow learned to stay in today, and to not get so upset about things outside my control. I'm calm and looking forward to just visiting with Mom and Dad, even if Dad is a grump. The day will pass no matter what his mood is.

THAT'S PROGRESS!

One of Mr. Doggy's friends said that his wife wants to have me over to do facials for her and a couple of her friends. I love when Mr. Doggy is my Mary Kay man! This weekend there is a Chamber of Commerce Expo at the local mall. One of the MK directors in the area rents a booth every year, which is kind of expensive to do - at least it would be for one person. But she allows her team members to rent out 2 hour blocks of time at a very reasonable cost. She was one of my trainers and offered me a slot, which I took. I figure it's worth $35 just to see if that sort of venue turns up any leads. So I have some prep work to do for that this week!

Life is good. I'm glad to be unhung and with my mind working on positive things before 6:30AM. Hope you are all having a good day too!

DG

Good morning Abbers,

Wow Leelou, you have received some pretty straigtforward messages - go for it

DG, hope all goes well for your Dad! My Dad was a chronic grump as well. He never chose to be happy - preferred to be a grump his entire life!
Good luck with your MK venture. So nice Mr Doggy is bringing you customers. Mr Lav brings me embroidery jobs. I think it's his way of thanking me for not booting him out when his ADD gets on my nerves

Unbelieveably, we have more snow predicted tomorrow night! I don't know where we are going to put it.........
Have a great AF Monday everyone!

Lav

Morning abbers!

Leelou, I vote yes. I love it when messages/opportunities are put before you like that with impeccable timing!

DG, when my dad gets grumpy he is good example that misery loves company. Works right hard at sucking me in. But in my AF BGPs, it doesn't work! I rarely look at the kiosks when I shop. Well, I rarely shop. But the one thing I did buy at a kiosk was a fingernail care kit. Only because the girl engaged me as I walked by rather than just watching me in silence. I liked the product but wouldn't have tried it were it not for approach. I bet you'll rake in the customers!

Lav, more snow.... my sister isn't too excited. They have no power and may not for a while. And roads are almost impassable. Sunshine, blue skys here this cold AM!

Marvelous Monday to all!
Zoom!

Helloooo abbers,

Leelou - what type of exercise challenge is it?

DG - now, you didn't ask for the 6.30am slot on your MK booth did you? You know us mere mortals are not up and about and shopping at that time, don't you

Lav - we've got snow here! Big wet blobs that aren't settling. Yuk. It's definitely the weather for staying in with chocolate biscuits and tea.

Greenie - BGPs! Haven't heard that for ages. Pull 'em up tight!

morning kids!

dads...whew. mine was an as*hole for a long long time, but has come around and is actually great now. he even apologized for all the bullsh*t he put us through in the past...he's a good egg!

i'm a little worried as i haven't drank in quite a long time (3 weeks or so?) and i have a vague pain in my liver area. i did slip back into old patterns for a while over the holidays, and really suffered the consequences in terms of pain and hangovers. my mantra now is "i never want to be hungover again".
i guess i should get a physical and be honest about my history of drinking to excess...i tell dr's i drink, but never honestly how much. so far so good in the enzymes dept, but that can change in a quick second, i hear. i find myself pretending i already have cirrhosis so that i wont drink...eesh. i'm weird.

i am so happy and grateful to be "UNHUNG"!!!

peace,

I just wanted to mention (being a retired nurse I can't help myself).........
Right upper quadrant abdominal pain can be caused by many things!
In my case I found out right after my son was born (nearly 30 years ago) that if I eat anything too high in fat, too spicey, etc. it causes my gall bladder to go crazy & causes RUQ pain.
A simple GI virus, viral hepatitis, etc. will cause the same discomfort. Of course too much AL caused the pain as well. Pancreatitis & even kidney disease will cause pain in the same area. But, I always found that if I watched my diet carefully I was pain free

I really do believe we are what we eat
Hope you feel better real soon!

Hey Gang......
It was a busy weekend for me....Saturday, I helped my daughter with the nursery. We still have a lot to do there! Sunday, I got some deep cleaning done! It feels so good getting so much accomplished on weekends, instead of feeling sick and Hung!

Leelou....here's to you being Fit and Fabulous at 40!

Lav....we got about 4 inches of snow here and it is still snowing, but it is nothing like whe snow you have had there during the past few days.....I hope you are staying warm and enjoying this time!

DG...It sounds like you are having a lot of fun with MK!

Peace, Greenie, Raven and all to come.....have a great evening!

late night greetings from the high desert!

Peace, when I am AF the RUQ pain is almost non existent. if I drink it comes back quicksmart....so for me it's a clear choice. I refuse to let alcohol damage me any further. I'm now getting younger by the day!

be well everyone
