Default Tues July 2 Daily Thread

Okay everyone- me starting the thread. Can tell Mary is on vacation.

So glad I have June behind me. The moving part is over and now it is the settling in. Curtains to be put up, kids rooms to be painted...I could go on but frankly I'm just sick to death of it. I did struggle to remain sober but I did it. Five months sober and I still get to struggle from time to time.

But I do love the house and the deer that I watch from my deck. And I have a great neigborhood to run in and really fast internet. So all in all worth the effort.

Oh - there are five bedrooms (one for each kid) and they still sleep in a big pile in one room!!! They say they will separate when school starts.

So now I've got to get back to it. Have someone dropping by at 10 and I don't really want the place to look like it does now when they get here...

Hope everyone has a great day.
Beck

Morning Beck and all to follow:
Beck, hopefully the worst is over......now it is just a matter of putting everything together.....You love the house, the neighborhood, the deer and your fast internet and you survived the move free of AL.....sounds good to me!!! I hope you are feeling very proud of yourself...5 months!!!
Now that the wedding is behind me I am focusing on our vacation to Italy....I have never been overseas before, so I am very discombobulated trying to figure out the foreign money, international cell phones and such..never mind what to pack. Promised myself I would travel light, as I know it will be very hot..It will all come together. I have always been pretty easy going, but the longer I am free of AL, I find I stress very little...I will say it is a great feeling to just sorta take things as they come!!
I hope Mary is enjoying her summer vacation and everyone to follow has a great day!!!

Hi Char,

You, my friend, are a life saver -okay a sobriety saver but for some of us it is the same thing.
I'm a veteran of overseas travel and I love Rick Steves' tips. Following is link (hope it works) to his site with advice on packing light for a trip to Europe. Hope you find it helpful.

Beck,

Thank you for starting the thread. I am glad to hear you managed to stay AF through the move. I hate moving. Army brat, army wife, then moved around even after hubby got out. Things always get lost, something special always gets broken, it takes forever to get the new house put together and no matter what, it costs more money than you want to spend.

Love the visual of all 4 kiddos in one room. It is good they like each other enough to want to do that!!

Charlee,

OMG, Italy. It will be wonderful and romantic. You will get to remember every little detail, too, because you are not going over there drinking. I'll bet you find it very restorative to your relationship with hubby.

My middle grandson is going in for an ultrasound of kidneys today. Well check has found protein in his urine, they did it twice to be sure. Please keep your fingers crossed that he is okay. We are all worried but you know how it is. Hurry up and wait.

I woke up in considerably less pain today. It is such a relief. I hope this Tegretol works out for this pain and I have no side effects.

Everyone else, have a wonderful AF Wednesday.

Love,
Cindi

Hi Abbers,

So much for English summer (made an appearance yesterday). It's cold and grey again today. I can see why Loppy doesn't feel inspired to jump on in the mornings.

Well done getting through your move, Beck. The new place sounds absolutely idyllic! Congrats on your 5 months!!

It must be a source of pride and relief that the wedding went so well, even if you didn't dance your socks off, Charlee. And now Italy, lucky you! I LOVE Italy!! Whereabouts are you going -north, south, east, west?? Yes, the dollar and euro used to peg about even but the dollar's taken quite a plunge.

My big excitement was finding a mouse in my bedroom the other night. Two small pipes run from the bathroom to my radiator with a little hole in between. My guess is that's where he's come from. I got a sonic repeller but the instructions say it takes 2-4 wks to work. Meanwhile, I wedged a flip-flop b/w the pipes in front of the hole. Hope my flip-flop defence will hold for the time being. Det, if you're looking for new forms of target practice...

The defences against AL are doing just fine - on day 50 AF - WOO HOO!!

Cindi - just saw your post. Hope everything will be fine with your grandson. Sending vibes of calm and strength your way!! Also, really good news about Lenair. I'm sure it will work for you just as well as it has done for the others.

Have a good day everybody!

Just wanted everyone to know that the ultrasound came back normal. When we called the doctor's office the lady said, "I'm not a doctor but the doctor has written in bold letters, all normal, GREAT!!!!"

We believe this means that the worst has been checked and not the case. I am one really relieved Granny. Let me tell you.

Love to all.

Cindi

Cindi - that is great news! I can here your sigh of relief all the way across the world!

Beck - well done on getting through the move. I shall use you as my inspiration as I gradually get through my household changes. This doesn't involve moving house, but does involve the complexities of simultaneously moving things from 3 locations (2 offices and an apartment) into one existing location (house) and one new location (new office). The sequencing is a nightmare!! We are about a third of the way through with most stuff happening over the next 2 1/2 weeks. Looking forward to the end of July!!!!!

Cindi - Great news!!!

And I didn't know you were an Army spouse...you probably understand then why I associate moving and drinking. Drank through all of my moves these past seven years - except this one.

Aunty Mame - feel a bit more lucky than inspirational. It is just never ending work. hope all goes well with you.

Beck
