Hi Sounddad,
This is a wonderful place to start your new path in life. The people and support are amazing, and there is so much knowledge here to assist you in what ever road you choose to take. I've never been to AA but I know people who go and they have found success, but like everything else in life, what works for one, may not work for you. And you're right, your life is far from over and you have a family who loves you and needs you. And most importantly, you need to be healthy and happy not only for them, but for yourself as well. I hope you find all the support here you need, there is always someone on any time of the day or night as we are all from different parts of the world. Poke your away around and get to know people, you will make fast friends, chat is always fun, and if you need immediate support you will find it here as well. All the best to you.

It was great to read your first post. I am new here as well. The folks here are very nice and willing to help in any way they can. I also have been trying AA and don't always feel comfortable but I continue to attend meetings. Make sure you buy/download the book and ask lots of questions. From what I hear the supplements are great as well.

I'm on day 3 today AF and I feel very positive this time around. A day at a time I say. Keep coming here it really does help soundad.

You really came to the right place for support! This site is incredible. I also did the AA and it didn't work for me either, but (when I stick around long enough) this site is a Godsend for me. I hope you will gain strength with every AF day and keep posting.
All the best to you!

Welcome Sound,
You're on the right path! Be sure to get the book (most suggest the download, but at under $15, find it's easier to order rather than use up all that printer ink) and read it. Keep reading posts, and engage as much of the program as you can. I have found the hypno cd's to be very helpful, and am pulling them out as needed after the initial 30-day period just because I need a boost. Try to hang onto your early determination (easier when you come here!). Like dieting, there will be periods when your enthusiasm may wane, and you may be tempted to return to old habits. Go for a change in lifestyle, not a temporary fix. You may end up giving up booze for good, or you may be able to moderate. Many diverse opinions on that one. Welcome, and best to you. V. |

![]() "I know in my heart that with real support and the right supplements and meds I will beat this" Start with the Kudzu from this site. I get l-glute in bulk. These helped me get free. A big part of it is mental toughness and a personal commitment to getting your real life back. You will not miss the hangovers. ![]() |
