Please can someone help me stop drinking. I am a mum of 2 young boys. I have a loving husband. Alcohol is making me lie and deceive. I don't really know why I started to get dependent on it, just that now I feel so anxious when I stop, that I buy some more. I work part time and never drink then - just at home.

Hello and Welcome Daisy:
I too suffer horrible anxiety when I stop drinking. I have come to learn that although anxiety is a horrible feeling, it does pass and it will not kill me, as alcohol will. I do not have to run from anxiety anymore. You may want to consult your doctor if it is intolerable, or it persists. There are some helpful "non-addictive" meds available. You Can Do This!!! Stay close by. You will get great advice and helpful suggestions here from others who know exactly what you are going through. ![]()

Hi Daisy, welcome, you are in a good place, read lots, write lots. I too am a father of two awesome children, I have a loving wife, and I am an alcoholic. That's why I am here, that's why I have stopped. You might want to look at the perceived anxiety you feel when you don't drink. Addiction is very cunning, so that anxiety might be addiction in disguise, sending you a sneaky urge. You can surf the urge and it will pass. You can do it.
