Default Any doctors or phamacists out there?

Hi Everybody

I wanted to start the program without the help of my doctor, but was unsure whether i could use Topamax with Aropax (antidepressant). Thought it better not to be too clever and rather involve him.

Asked him for a prescription for Topamax, but he prescibed the following instead:
Trepiline (2 in the evening), Inderal (beta-blocker for tremors - 1 in the evening), Stillnox (sleeping pill - 1 in the evening) and Xanor (twice a day).

Don't know how i am supposed to function with all these tranquilizers in my system!

Anyone who knows something about drugs that can comments on his precscription?

Greetings
Loran

Hello Loran, I'm not a physican but do have some medical background. If your doctor is'nt able to answer this question for you call your local pharmacist. They are truely the experts on the chemistry and interaction of our meds. Another idea as my therapist suggested, see a psychiatirst. They deal more with meds of the mind. Hope this helps.

If I were you I'd google them all and find out more. Just because your doctor prescribed them doesn't mean you have to take them. He ignored what you asked for and just went ahead with tranq's. Being dumbed out on tranquilisers isn't what you asked for, you asked for help with your drinking. If I were you I'd find another dr or order the topa online and dump the rx.

How long did he prescribe these meds for?
Just 10 days or so?

I guess meds are sometimes prescribed temporarily to prevent DTs while withdrawing from alcohol. This has definitely been covered on this website before. You might want to search around the med section or search for some of the drug names.

The advice I read in the past was to go ahead take the meds temporarily to ease coming off alcohol. Are you abstaining entirely?

Due to liability issues I doubt you will get a reply from a professional.

Post more info. How much do you drink? Are you physically dependent on AL? How badly do you want to stop? I found this site and after reading a lot of posts realized that I was not alone. I just do not have an AL off switch in my brain.

I ordered the Kudzu and L-glute from this site and have been AF going on 60 days. I am not really counting because I am now a non-drinker and I am not going back. Maybe this would work for you too? You may not need prescription drugs.
