Question Anyone got borderline personality disorder/meds advice?

A few months ago I was diagnosed with BPD and I've been reading here for a while but haven't seen anything come up on the subject. It's like what I imagine being bipolar would be like but with moods changing in response to the slightest impulse (Could just be a look someone gave me). As a result I'm emotionally intense, unstable and experience racing thoughts (Sometimes positive and sometimes negative) every day, 10s of times, and I can't feel like I'm alone or I'll start to panic. And, I get through about a bottle of vodka or the equivalent thereof every day. With the sky high drinking levels and instability, I can't hold down a job and have been unemployed for ages, and I make no progress in therapy because I'm never there sober and I think that most of the programs are pretty useless anyway.

I'm sure that in order to achieve any progress I'm going to need chemicals (Which of course doctors always refuse to prescribe. Here, have an antidepressant. Yawn.), both for the excessive drinking and for the intense emotions that drive it, but I don't know what would be best. Topamax or naltrexone for the drinking might help but I think I need to hear from someone with the same disorder who has been in this position but has made some progress - what worked for them? I don't think it would be much use just approaching it from an alcohol addiction point of view, and something to stabilise my "all over the place" daily rollercoaster ride would be useful to hear about as well.

Cheers.
