BH and Zenstyle,

Thanks for your feedback.

I have taken on board your comments and modified my original post accordingly. Should those that have replied already wish to do so, they could edit their replies to include the additional information.

Less than 30 mg per day
30 - 50 mg per day
60 - 80 mg per day
90 - 110 mg per day
120 - 140 mg per day
150 - 170 mg per day
180 - 200 mg per day
210 - 230 mg per day
240 - 260 mg per day
270 mg or more per day
Gender: F
Weight: 150

I was still drinking at 180, but had reduced desire. Going to 190 seemed too much for me to handle, so I have titrated down to 100 over the past 10 days or so to give myself a break. I can't honestly say I hit my switch. I am going to titrate back up more slowly and see how it goes.

Hi Folks,

There must be others out there that have had success with baclofen. If so, please add your support to this thread by sharing your data with us. P-l-e-a-s-e!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Virgil , seems a shame you are not getting a better response. There is mixed feelings on here about it but a guy called Dr Phill has got a web site on baclofen that may be of some help to you to gather this information . Just out of interest can I ask what you plan to do with this information ?

Hi BH,

Yes, I was hoping for a better response but perhaps you can help me here. You say that "There is mixed feelings on here about it...". As I'm still relatively new to this forum, it may be that I have made an error of judgment. I guess it's possible that people think I may have some ulterior motive for starting the thread. If so, I need to explain myself.

Quite simply, I am concerned that I have not derived any benefits whatsoever to date from taking baclofen. It has not helped my anxiety disorders nor has it reduced my alcohol intake. I am currently taking 100 mg per day and this I understand is the maximum dose that can be prescribed under BNF guidelines. I think I'm right in saying that BNF is the British National Formulary. So, if I want to exceed this dosage, I may have to resort to buying baclofen online, something I have always resisted. But I want to be sure that I don't abandon baclofen if it would be beneficial to increase my dosage.

So, although I have read many of the posts on the baclofen threads, I have found it a bit difficult to obtain the dosage at which people hit the 'switch'. From a newcomer's point-of-view, it is a daunting task. Consequently, I thought it might be useful to set up this 'poll'. It had never occurred to me that I may be entering into territory that others might find unacceptable. I am more than happy to accept an error on my part.

I should perhaps add that one person initially was opposed to my setting up the poll. To which I offered to delete the thread and then that person explained that it was OK for me to leave it - so I did.

I trust this explains my position.

Whatever you do, PLEASE don't give up on bac until you've given it every chance to do its work.

I was getting helluva frustrated: I had NO side-effects as I titrated up, until I got to 180mg +, when I started getting somnolent and began to obsess less about alcohol.

Have you worked out your potential maximun dose based on Dr. A's experience, Virgil? That at least gives you an inkling how high you might have to go. My switch was at 240, but on one particular day, I went to 270 with 2 extra p.r.n. doses, which was pretty close to 3.6mg per kg of body weight.

If online ordering is your only option, I say go for it...

And no: you're not stepping on anybody's toes, as far as I can see.

Surprisingly low, I know, but this has worked for me and I haven't ever had to go higher. Somnolence hasn't been a "problem" per se, but I do nod off quite a bit at work where I spend all my time in front of a computer. I think it might have more to do with only getting an average of 4 - 5 hrs of sleep since I quit drinking. I more or less quit drinking around Oct. 1st '09 (allowing myself to drink moderately with Nal over the holidays), so I'm hoping my sleep normalizes or I find a way to adapt eventually. But for now I'm more than happy and def can't complain.

If I get up to 150 mg/day I could care less about alcohol. it's just not easy to do so b/c of the side effects...

Hi Virgil

sorry about my post it seems to have mis lead you I meant that people have mis givings about Dr Phills web site not you starting this thread !!! just re-read what I typed and can see where the confusion came from.

I am very much like tip had very few side effects from bac and it had truly transformed my life and would personally urge anybody to give it a try. My advice take it slow listen to your own body and keep and open mind .

And I would like to point out Virgil this site is for everybody nobody can give you permission to put a thread up except the administraters, we are all striving for the same thing . So from my point of view post what you like ask any questions you like and the best of luck and I hope you acheive the same results as I have from bac ! and like tip says dont give up. My best wishes to you !

OK Everyone!

Thanks for the additional feedback and thanks, BH for putting my mind at rest. I thought I'd stepped out of line so I'm pleased that we've cleared that one up. So, onto the business in hand...

Well, there have been some more figures put forward, which is great. And it certainly looks as though I'll be ordering online. I'm going to give baclofen every possible chance. I have so much to gain and so little to lose!

Once again, a sincere 'thank-you' to everyone!

V.
