Question Is campral safe? Does it make you weak?

I've been trying to read up on Campral for the past several weeks and I have browsed through this forum for a little bit. I can't quite seem to find the information I need.

One of the possible side affects of Campral is weakness. Has anyone here experienced that on Campral? I am trying to get into shape, so I have been lifting weights everyday. I am a 23 year old petite female, so I am worried that taking Campral could make my tiny arms and legs even weaker and then I could hurt myself during a workout.

Has anyone experienced any other kind of dangerous side affects? Or know someone that has? I know the packaging has to list possible side affects, but I want to know what people are experiencing in real use with this drug. Not a clinical study.

I have taken Campral with absolutely NO side effects what so ever. A few people notice stomach problems, but thats just about it. I stopped taking it cuz I continued to drink on it rendering it useless. Don't be scared about trying it. As I said, I noticed NOTHING. Read thru the posts, many swear by it. Good luck. Oh, and why do you need to shape up if you so tiny??

Default Thanks

Thanks for the reply sk8rgrl. I have been taking the stuff for one day now, and I dont really notice anything either. Ive been tired all day, but that might have nothing to do with the Campral. In response to your question, I am not really trying to lose weight, I just need to get more fit. Like change my flab into muscles.

I have been taking Campral for about 6 weeks now. As a sporty, athletic type once I gave up AL I couldn't wait to get my old fitness and strenght back. I have had absolutely no problem with Campral and have literally gone from strength to strength. I love lifting weights and am currently building up to squatting over my own body mass. I was always a bit 'interesting' gut-wise since I try and follow a hi-protein diet with lots of fruit and veg. When I combined that with AL binges the reaction was certainly very interesting indeed.

Don't worry and without AL you should build up your strength easily.

Hi, I'm into my third week on Campral; 2 tabs-3TAD(the normal recommendation). I also work out and have noticed no strength decreases at all. What I am experiencing is sleeplessness; will get up at 2 or 3am and walk around the neighborhood or just read. Also, seem to be "down" somewhat; these are not happy pills. But that could be just body reacting to no alcohol. I don't know what your prescription is, but from the tech info I read, the effects of Campral are influenced by a person's weight; so, you being petite, might have great results with 1tab-3TAD or even less. See what your doctor says. I am going to try and cut back after a month or so. I guess the main thing is to get the desired results(no cravings) with the lowest dosage, since I was told I should take it for at least a year. Best of luck in the coming journey. Tom

Hi again, If you haven't done so allready, do a Google search on Campral. All kinds of info; more than you really wanted to know. Getting back to dosage, mine originally was 1tab-3TAD, but doc doubled it because I was getting shakes first week(detox). That really helped. But like I said, hope to eventually reduce it. Tom

Hi again, yes Campral is dose often does depend on body mass. I was hovering just over the 60Kgs mark when I first started so it was suggested I try 2 in the morning, then 1 in the afternoon + evening to make it 4 per day. I have lost a couple of lbs since and as I am training more, eating better I am leaning up well. Still on 4 a day but think I may reduce to 3.

SIB, I was under the impression Campral does nothing for the shakes - it's to help with cravings once you have detoxed and stopped completely - so surprised how your Dr adjusted the dose.

Hi, My doctor said Campral does help with physical problems besides just cravings. Probably depends how severe. She uses Campral for patients because ,from her research, it is the least stressful on the liver. Tom

Default Thanks for the help guys!

Hey,

Thank you guys for the info. I'm gonna continue to lift weights and jog then. But, I'm on day two and I have been EXTREMELY tired since yesterday! Did you guys notice that? I did a search on Yahoo, not Google yet, but the stuff I found said that Campral might make some people drowsy. Will the drowsiness go away? I'm on 2 pills 3 TAD also. Maybe I should cut down to only 3 or 4 pills a day.

Default nope

I have not had the sleepiness, weakness or ANY problems taking the Campral.................I just have not noticed a reduction in cravings, maybe I am not taking it regularly enough though, I have forgotten it a couple days here and there, overall I really don't notice much of a difference AT ALL......................don't want to stop though, afraid I will go back to my old ways...............not good!

Good luck,

MA
