Default Introducing oneself to topamax

Hi all. Based in the UK here where getting a prescription for medication is very difficult. I asked my GP for topamax about 5 weeks ago but he wants me to see a specialist first before considering any chemical approach. That appointment has come through and is in 2 days. I had got my drinking halved when I approached him but given the length of the wait it has regressed to, well I don't know exactly, but let's just call it loads.

As I'm still drinking it seems unlikely that any other chemical will work. I tried the kudzu and L-glutamine which was helpful for 3 days in achieving a decent reduction but ultimately didn't make much difference after that unfortunately. I'm well prepared for the appointment in terms of scientific and anecdotal evidence, and the desire to quit or at least cut down, of the potential usefulness of the stuff, and if I can't obtain it then I'm going to go to any lengths to get it. Of course I can order from overseas if all else fails. So my question is if I do this, I will obviously be doing it without proper supervision, so I'd like to know what dose to start with and how frequently to increase it, and when to stop increasing it. Also I believe that some of the side effects that a minority experience are clear warning signs that it should be discontinued - when is it time to say this is no longer a good idea?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.
