Yes, I'm about 7 weeks in and going it alone, now at 150 mg. I'm in the medical field and it's pathetic to say it I guess but that's why I didn't even try to get a script for it-figured all the BS I'd have to listen to and thought I'd save myself the trouble, do the research and be done with it. It's been very effective for moderation. Side effects have been fatigue, very minor tingling and that's about it. I've followed the dosage guidelines exactly (maybe even a little slower than normal). Trying Topa never scared me as much as the continued path I saw in the future....

This might be a stupid question but when you ordered it, it came with instructions?

I followed the directions outlined in the My Way Out book. You can download the book or pick it up at the book store. The book is short and a very easy read. Well worth the money spent. Good luck.

I tried to get it from my doc and she said she doesn't prescribe off label and if I have a drinking problem I should go for treatment. So I ordered from River and it has also been effective for me. I felt the reduction in craving at 50 mg and am now at 75mg. On weekdays I dont take any till 4 or 5 pm to avoid daytime sleepiness at work but on weekends I take 25 mg 3 times a day to avoid afternoon drinking. I still have a couple of glasses of wine most days but that is a big improvement. I feel as if I am drinking like a normal person now, although I still haven't done the 30-day AF thing.

I just ordered Topa from River. When I asked my DR about anti-craving drugs, he told me all that was out there was Antibuse! I didn't bother giving him the info on Topa as he knows nothing about it :( ... so I am going to go it alone. I also don't want to risk there be any records of it in my insurance or at a pharmacy.

Will not arrive until Sept 6-15 and my start date was suppose to be Sept 3rd! Bummer! Oh well, at least there will still be a start date.

The stories here withit are quite encouraging!

Hi All:

I'm in the medical profession, but chose to order Topa thru off shore pharmacy. I'm anxiously waiting for it to arrive. I am so ready. Perhaps I had better get the book and the vitamins in the mean time?

Absolutely, Tess, read the book, get started on all the other aspects of the program! You will begin to feel better, the more things you do in the direction of getting free from the alcohol.

Thanks. You want to hear something funny? I actually balked at the price of the Topa, the supplements, and the book! Wonder how much I spent on vodka last month??? When you look at it that way, there isn't any question.

Tess, I did the same thing. Then added up the wine from the last month. $600-$800 dollars a month! YIKES! Add my smoking habit in there and I could be driving a Rolls Royce! LOL

Also waiting for my Topa. Agree on getting the CDs and supps. For me, this time around I will suceed and am going to arm myself with every tool I can get my hands on!
