drug interactions with Vytorin or other statins?

Hello Doctor.

Just need to know if there are any known interactions between Topomax or the herbs/supplements with statins. Also need to know if they might have a synergistic or adverse effect on the liver?

Hi Ivygoodluck.

I don't think any interactions exist, the liver metabolizes them all. I suggest hepatic function tests on a regular basis (every 3 to 6 months while on the Topamax, Campral or Naltrexone). Also as noted before, don't forget the pharmacist as part of your team. They have computers set up to cross index a wide range of medications and herbals for possible side effects.
