Anne,

Well done on the 2 1/2 years journey. Your experience should be shared and I'm glad you posted.

Hi July,
I'm a Tennessee girl myself! Hope all is well in the Volunteer State, and thank you for your reply. I only hope I can help some people to understand that all of this is "do-able" for the average lush, like me. I have been engrossed in the last few days in getting to know some of you through your posts.

Do know that no matter what has happened to bring you here (now THIS is my believe), you are not here by accident. You have been brought to this website because you are ready for something to change in your life. You will meet new friends, find new ways of looking at your life, and re-program yourself to be different (and that can be scary in itself!) Once you get going, it's really SO exciting... and even if you slip, even if you beat yourself up because you continue to drink (for now), EVERY ONE OF YOU IS PREPARING YOURSELF FOR CHANGE. For some it may be relatively easy (like it was for me), for some it may be more difficult, but everyone here will change for the better.

Know it... feel it... because it's true.

Every tiny step forward is a victory. Every time you can make it 5 more minutes before having to drink, is a victory. Every "witching hour" (the 4PM - 12 midnight or more!) spent doing something other than drinking, is a victory. Revel in every small step, because they will ultimately lead you to the freedom you are seeking, and to a wonderful new lifestyle that you are ready for. Everybody on this board is ready for this change, because if you weren't, you wouldn't have been lead to the wonderful people that are here to help, support, and guide you.

MARCIE!!!

How are you girl?? What have you been doing the last two years? How is your success coming along?
Please let me know!!

And Gathings,
I will send you a private message with my e-mail address so we can speak French if you'd like! It would be fun...

Y'all please forgive me for stepping on my soap box and preaching for this program. Stopping my drinking opened up so many avenues in my life, new passions, new friends, a new way of looking at the world. It helped me to remember things that I had forgotten about, find new joys and new ways of having fun, and I am such a happier person now. I want you all to experience that so that's why I continue to go on and on (and I'm sure that some people go, "ok, enough already... it was easy for you but NOT so easy for me." ) So sorry if I offend anybody or act too much like a Pollyanna. But God, it feels good to feel good. And this program works...

Anne

Anne, I'm doing great. I've had some long periods of abs(6 months was the longest). I'm doing good moderating, I've been drinking once a week or less.

Hubby and I are trying to have a baby, something I never thought would happen. The only thing that was important to me before was drinking. Not anymore! I am very happy.

Marcie,
That is SO exciting! I am so glad to hear that you are doing so well, and I hope the pregnancy comes quickly, just the way you want. I bet your husband is pleased with the "new you" too.

It's wonderful to be booze-free before becoming a Mom. But I'll tell you, my kids haven't stopped telling me how proud they are of me for the last 2 1/2 years, and that means so much to me. I'm in the throes of "teenagerdom" with them and sometimes it isn't easy, but when it's a hell of alot harder with a hangover!

That is great Anne that your kids are so thrilled about the new you. My hubby couldn't be happier with the new me.

We never planned to have kids. After I sobered up and realized that there was more to life than drinking, we decided to go for it.

Hi Anne

I am at the start of my journey, although I did do 30 days here (with a small blip in the middle) last year. Just reading posts trying to get things together and find the energy to start again. Each time it seems a little harder and more soul destroying to do. However, I know I have a problem and that I must do something about it.

I also live in France, and I agree it is so hard with the lovely wine, champagne etc. I live in the Sarthe, near Le Mans.

Would be great to have you help me with my journey. Every time I want to go AF, there always seems to be something coming up (ie holiday, social event) in the near future that stops me, because at the moment I just cant think about going on holiday etc without drinking alcohol.

Tried the topamax but gave me tingling which I didnt like, the other supps alone, just dont seem enough. May try the Campral, but think I would have to buy it on line cos my docs not so understanding here.

Anyhow sorry to ramble on. Have a good day.

Amanda

Anne
I am very interested in EFT. I wonder if you would start a thread and tell us more about it. I have researched it slightly and have wondered the best way to learn it and if it coudl help with alcoholism.

i am on day 6 AF and taking antabuse. It helps because I take it in the am when I am feeling the most resolved to stay AF and just know i will not be able to drink.

Thanks for sharing.
