Default Attack right back

Wake Up Call for June 13, 2008
Get him to turn tail

The devil circles around us all the time looking for our weakness, our vulnerability. He's scrutinizing a spot in us where he can get in a jab of doubt or discouragement, or wedge an opening for sin. I have a question for all of us. Do we have to just sit there and take it?
In battle, there is both offensive and defensive strategy. A good general knows how to evaluate his enemy's weaknesses and use them to his own advantage. As Christians, we are often surprised by the fierceness of attacks and ignorant and naïve about the battle with the enemy of our soul. If we are smart, we can turn the tables.
One strategy is to use each attack to attack back. For instance, if we are hit in our finances, we give an extra offering. If we are hit in our health, we visit a hospital and pray for the sick, if we feel down and discouraged we send a note of encouragement to someone. It's like saying to Satan; "You're going to be mighty sorry you messed with me; I'll double in good any ill you try to send against me."
As the devil tries to close in, we take "the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one." (Ephesians 6:16) Lob it back at him. When his fiery darts fizzle, he'll turn tail and run!

Hummmmmmmm....how do we attack back when he attacks us to try and get us to drink and then feel like a failure and to just drink some more to medicate that pain?
There are people all around us that are hurting... My H2o instructor's mom is a drug addict.
Some days I take a little extra time to ask her how that's going. She seems grateful to have someone to share her pain with without being judgemental.
Being able to come on here and share something with all of you that has touched my heart is a "attack back" at satan. He doesn't like it when we encourage each other.
Just my thoughts.
Nancy

Bad things don't need to happen to us to make us vulnerable. Satan can attack when we are in our comfort zone and when everything just seems fine - in fact that's probably when we are most vulnerable.

A bit of an analogy:

Satan knew I was wounded after a past drink problem, even though the wound had become a tiny scab and forgotten about, he knew it was an area I was weak - he only needed to say, 'Remember, you used to drink a lot of vodka.' That was it! Fascinated by remembering this tiny fact, I begin picking at the scab thinking I was doing no harm, not realising it was gradually becoming a gaping wound worse than the last.

But thankfully God can use our short-comings for his good purpose - as an attack-back like you say! We may wander off the pathway from time to time, but God is always with us and will always bring us back to the place we need to be.

Hope this makes sense!

Loved that Nancy, attack right back with goodness - excellent and one I will try to remember every day.

Thank you.
