Default day 1..thinking about my purpose

good day to everyone .fallenangel and i have been reading ." the purpose driven life "
by rick warren
and so far it has some really interesting qusetions
day 1..it all starts with god
heres just a little of how it starts

its not about you.
the purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind , or even your happiness. its far greater than your family ,your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. if you want ot know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with god . you were born by his purpose and for his purpose.

the search for the purpose of life has puzzled people for thousands of years. that's because we typically begin at wrong starting point---ourselfs.we ask self-centered questions like what do i want to be ? what should i do with my life ? what are my goals, my ambitions, my dreams for my future ? but focusing on ourselfs will neve reveal our life's purpose.
the bible says "it is god who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone's life is in his power."

contrary to what many popular books, movies, and seminars tell you, you won't discover your life's meaning by looking with in yourself. you've problably tried that already. you didn't create yourself, so there is no way you can tell yourself what you were created for! if i handed you an invention you had never seen before , you wouldn't know its purpose, and the invention itself wouln't be able to tell you either. only the creator or the owner's manual could reveal its purpose

Point to ponder;its's not about me .

verse to remember; 'everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him."
colossians 1:16b (msg)

Qusetion to consider; in spite of all the advertising around me ,
how can i remind myself that life is really about living for god,
not myself ?

i know alot of people have this qusetion mark over their heads and yeah it has some to do with higher power . but it is also looking out side the box
peace and god bless
have an awesome day

Tlrgs..........
Good book!!
Read it a few years ago and did a discussion class on it...

The world we live in shouts out ME ME ME! It's everywhere.

Good news! This world is not our home!
Until we understand that it IS all about HIM and His Glory...we will be restless.
Makes me homesick for our true home to come.

Nancy

To answer that question to consider.....Turn off the advertising...TV...magazines, newspapers......and go outside and just
"Be still and know".

tlrgs,

Wow.

I forget this sometimes and "worry" and wail. God's way is before us. We may not know where it leads us but is before us. Let's just follow His light and his path, no matter what.

Love,
Cindi

I just wanted to post a reply because this book made a huge impact on my daughter!

I know you guys will think we are nuts, but my husband and I did a "Purpose Driven Life" study for 9 weeks. Our daughter had asked if we would do it because she read the book. She was 15 at the time. It was an "adults only" group where we could meet in small groups and discuss the topic at hand, which was always amazing. Anyhow, we had to ask permission for our daughter to be in this 30-something class. On the last day, they asked for stories... anyone who had their lives changed. My daughter raised her hand.... the only one under age 30 in the room, and went up front.

She said that because she was born from a marriage that was a "mistake", that surely, she was a product of that mistake. So she didnt really belong and had always felt like she wasnt meant to be. Wow! I never knew this.

But, the first paragragh of that book changed her life. It says, "You are not a mistake."

Long story short, she found a lot of healing emotionally. She is head strong, and never leaves questions unanswered. She will leave for college in August. Her other favorite book is Strength Finder, by Tom Rath

I just finished reading it... Wow!
