I know my family has some skeletons in the closet....I'm comfessing not only my sin but all those that my family has passed doen to me and my kids and grandkids.
NancySometimes in the news you hear of public apologies for sins and offences perpetrated by past generations. For instance, I remember a public apology to Japanese Americans for rounding them up during World War II and illegally placing them in internment camps. Isn't it enough to confess your own sins and repent for them? Why would you take on anyone else's? Daniel in the Old Testament does not ask such questions. He identifies with the sins of his fathers even though he bore no personal responsibility for committing them. In fact, Daniel was in captivity in Babylon due to the rebellion of the generation of Israelites before him. If anything, he might have held that against them instead of begging for forgiveness. Yet repent is what he does. Daniel recounts a story of an angelic visitation and tells us how it came about. "Now while I was speaking and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God in behalf of the holy mountain of my God" (Daniel 9:20) Have you ever thought of following this godly prophet and confessing the sins of your family, including past generations? We know that iniquity revisits families for three and four generations. (See Exodus 20:5) When someone says, "It runs in my family" we nod our head in understanding. It's not so out of line to repent on behalf of others. By doing so you may break an ungodly generational cycle of sin. Why hand down to your children what you are sorry was handed down to you? Now read the Straight Talk question of the week. After ordination, how does life change? Is ordination life changing? Great thread...
I often wonder about faith and people... being from a diverse background. When all else is gone... faith, hope and love are what's left... Scientifically... if Christ is the light of the world... it would make sense based on the speed of light... and a book written over 2,000 years ago in a twinkleing of an eye... I am a believer on all fronts... I guess my favorite verse would be from the N.T. and however you want to verse it... the most significant and verbally correct word be... Jesus Wept. or He Wept. God tells us He saw our face before Him.... before we were even born. In two words, 2000 years ago... I am the same today... I am the aApha and the Omega People believe in UFO's Unidentified... but what if we have been given the opportunity to and can Identify........................ don't worry I've been like this for 40 years... it makes all my friends crazy it's just me... thinking outside the box..................... it's only a thought... A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:3-5 This one I try to remind myself daily - Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; who ever is led astray by them is not wise. Poverbs 20:1 And this one - Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world;but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2 God Bless Twosox ![]() |

Psalm 37:4Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. I remember thinking, when I first because a Christian, how wonderful prayer would be. All I would have to do was let God know what I wanted, and He promised that I would have it. I began searching my life for the true desires of my heart, and was surprised to find that they weren't cars, money, or houses, but love, peace of mind, and happiness. The more I prayed, the more I became aware that the true desires of my heart were the desires of Jesus' own heart. They had been there all along, but I had never recognized them before. Prayer is not a way for us to make ourselves wealthy and prosperous. The Christian's mind should be set on higher things. When we pray to the Lord, always remembering to say, "Thy will done," we will find the truth of Christ squarely centered in our lives.Prayer: There are few people I would rather spend my time with than You. Lord, though often I do n't spend time with You as I should. Forgive me when I forget to turn to You. Make Your desires my desires. Amen.

Get in the Habit
Quite a few years ago I had a problem with my knee and the doctor prescribed a daily stretching exercise to alleviate the condition. I resolved to do the exercise every day but at first I didn't. I would forget and then two or three days would go by and I would remember to do it again. Finally I picked a definite time. I decided to sandwich it between two other morning routines hoping that would help me get in the habit. That did the trick. The daily stretching became so regular I hardly had to think about it anymore; I could almost do it in my sleep. Did you know prayer works the same way? Psalm 5:3 "In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expection." If you want to make sure you pray every day, start by establishing a specific time. Mornings are great; that's what David chose, but choose any time that will work for you. Keep at it even if you miss a few times in the beginning. We are told that doing any activity for three straight weeks makes it a habit. The prayer habit is a very good one to have. Just think; God is already in the habit of listening for you. Shouldn't you be in the habit of giving him something to listen to? Now read the Straight Talk question of the week. Are angels floating on clouds now or do they still have some duties in our modern times? Angels-What are they up to today? Used by permissionBarbara Lardinais Hannah's Cupboard
