Saint Theresa is known as the Saint of the Little Ways. Meaning she believed in doing the little things in life well and with great love. (I like that) She is also the patron Saint of flower growers and florists. She is represented by roses.

Hi All,
Just thought I would let you know that my mother named me after this saint - my full name is Marie-Therese - this is my first name and my sisters second name (I think my mother was getting tired after 9 of us!). One of the outstanding vivid memories of my parent's bedroom is a little statuette of St. Theresa on my parent's dressing table. I always liked this. My mother's take on religion was always much like my own - christian beliefs - do as one would like done to thyself etc., but my father was much more strict (devout Roman Catholic - we are Irish so he grew up in this era) and he really put me off church and RC etc. - however, now after discussing some of this with my mum and looking at several episodes of Father Ted (has anyone seen this outside Ireland? - I think it is hilarious put probably Irish humour) and having my own children I am starting to come back to the church and find my own relationship with God. Thanks for sharing the thread Best wishes, Bandit ![]() |

Holy God Bandit... My middle name is Therese (after the little flower of Liseux - St Therese that is). My next sister down also has that as her middle name! Unfortunately I also got Bridget (after St Bridget) but spelt the Irish way Brid. Ugh hate it.
As for Father Ted - its brilliant and has made it all the way to NZ. We even have a pub in Auckland called Father Ted's! My favourite one is when Father Jack (the alcoholic!) dies and Fr Ted says "well Dougal he is gone to heaven now". And Dougal says oh God Ted you dont believe in all that life hereafter stuff do you? Anyway keep the faith (whatver it may be) and go on go on go on you will have a cup of tea (instead of AL)! BH |

Dear greeneyes. Thank you for your spiritual blessing. I recieve it!! I for one think spirituality is an important compnent of my addiction recovery. I plan on going to church tomorrow and will ask for prayer. I need all the help I can get! I believe that my faith in Jesus is helping me to firstly forgive myself for my addiction to alcohol and to secondly believe that He will help me and hear my cries for help.Ps while faith in Jesus helps me personally, I support all my fellow strugglers on this sight in their own strategies for recovery whether it includes God or not. Love to all. Sincerely TraceyO Ps I'm Irish too!

What a lovely prayer - I just found this website today and it is sooo encouraging. I am day 1 and I am hoping that with the help of this website and God's help I can overcome and become a healthier person. My body and my spirit is telling me to stop, but with friends and family all around that drink it has been hard. I am really positive about finding this website and am determined to achive my goals. That prayer really encouraged me to do this. Thank youuuuuu!!!
