Default Wake up call for May 1

Wake Up Call for May 1, 2008
Toughen Up

I've heard about some of the intense training that the elite military Special Services goes through. Not everyone is capable of entering such a grueling regimen but those that finish are the best of the best. If I were trapped behind enemy territory in need of a rescue, it's the Special Service graduate I'd want coming for me.
I got to thinking: what's the difference between the obstacles a recruit encounters in training versus real world scenarios? Very little if the training is good. The more practice maneuvers mirror the life they will actually encounter the better chance the mission will succeed.
Do you think maybe God has us in Special Services training? We have an enemy out there who is serious about capturing and destroying us. If we are softies we are going to get taken out pronto. We need to toughen up and the best training is the real stuff that comes at us in the trials and tribulations of life.
"Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you." (1 Peter 4:12) I've often been surprised by my own fiery trials but I shouldn't be. There's God's Word giving me plain warning.
If we viewed adversity as the valuable training we need for overcoming Satan we would also better obey the next verse which tells us "keep on rejoicing; so that also at the revelation of His glory, you may rejoice with exultation." (Verse 13)
Buck up! Graduation day will make it all worthwhile.

Now read the Straight Talk question of the week. Are we receiving all that it is possible to have in the kingdom of God?

Hey guys!
I totally "GET" the military training idea here! Could be because of my son the (christian) marine!!! That's how a mom at the airport described him when I first met her.....How awsome is THAT???
He is home..he is home...he is home!
There is a "thank you " service tonight. "We didn't have to have a "memorial" service." Major said....
God protected every one of them!
Thank you Father!
Nancy

Nancy Belle,

I have been so grateful for my daughter's healing and now you add your son's safe return.

Here is something for you from me.

Awake, my soul, and with the sun
Thy daily stage of duty run;
Shake off dull sloth, and joyful rise,
To pay thy morning sacrifice.

Thy precious time misspent, redeem,
Each present day thy last esteem,
Improve thy talent with due care;
For the great day thyself prepare.

By influence of the Light divine
Let thy own light to others shine.
Reflect all Heaven’s propitious ways
In ardent love, and cheerful praise.

In conversation be sincere;
Keep conscience as the noontide clear;
Think how all seeing God thy ways
And all thy secret thoughts surveys.

Wake, and lift up thyself, my heart,
And with the angels bear thy part,
Who all night long unwearied sing
High praise to the eternal King.

All praise to Thee, who safe has kept
And hast refreshed me while I slept
Grant, Lord, when I from death shall wake
I may of endless light partake.

Heav’n is, dear Lord, where’er Thou art,
O never then from me depart;
For to my soul ’tis hell to be
But for one moment void of Thee.

Lord, I my vows to Thee renew;
Disperse my sins as morning dew.
Guard my first springs of thought and will,
And with Thyself my spirit fill.

Direct, control, suggest, this day,
All I design, or do, or say,
That all my powers, with all their might,
In Thy sole glory may unite.

I would not wake nor rise again
And Heaven itself I would disdain,
Wert Thou not there to be enjoyed,
And I in hymns to be employed.

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

With much love,
Cindi

Thank you so much for that!
I love it.
"Heaven IS where ever HE is!!
Right now we only see and know a very small part of Him...one day we shall see Him as He is.......in all His Glory!
I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't miss that for this world or anything in it.

Waves......'s right back at you too!
God blessed us and Lima Company in this deployment! Things happened that we will not know the full extent of until heaven!

Thank you all for your prayers!
I love you.

Nancy.....I'm just a "road sign" that points up.....that's all.
