If you've ever wanted to make real Italian polenta from scratch but felt discouraged about that endless stirring, stirring, stirring---try putting your cornmeal and broth into the slow cooker! Go to a cooking website (or just Google "slow cooker polenta") and follow instructions. It works like a dream, especially for large quantities. I serve mine with a topping of tri-color peppers, onions, and shrimp in a fresh tomato sauce, and it's always a hit, especially in winter.

get a pork loin or pork butt and rub herbs and salt on it (oregano, thyme, sage, pepper and salt)
cut 1 large onion in big chunks
1 large red bell pepper in big chunks too.
some whole garlic gloves 5 or more
put it in the pot add some orange juice ( depending on size of loin) or butt just enough to make a small pool to keep loin moist.
let it cook down for a few hours.
serve with grilled potatoes or baked potatoes.

Happy experimenting!
wheat gluten is yucky

Better than chomping a pig's bloody, fleshy butt any day I'd say!

But to each their own. That is why they make chocolate and vanilla and I will leave ethics out of it.

No, Rags! Count me as one, too! I suppose technically I'm a pesca-lacto-ovo-tarian, as I will very rarely have fish or seafood (for example, if there's simply nothing vego on a restaurant menu) but no mammal flesh whatsoever, ever. Haven't touched the vile, cruelly-procured stuff for about 15 years (well, yes, I've touched it when making my family's dinner, as they still do the meat thing.)

Caught this one late. I am a vegan and have been eating seitan for at least 25 years. I used to make my own back in the old days when you couldn't buy it. Now you can buy really good stuff - I buy it locally made. It is terrific. I cook it several times a week.- mostly because my husband loves it so much. There are a million ways to cook it.

Hi Nattie !!
I love to make an all in one supper when I have to be at work all day... I thaw chicken out the night before,
I put chicken thighs (remove fat)
some potatoes cut in quarters
2 or 3 carrots, cut in 1 inch pieces
a stalk of celery chopped up
an onion chopped fine
2 cups of water with 1 tablespoon of chicken soup base disolved in it...
Pour over everything, cover and put slow cooker on low for the day... When you get home you will enjoy a ready meal... Enjoy !!
PS, You can substite chicken for any type of meat you have on hand... Experiment and enjoy your results Hon !!! xxx

I'm a vegetarian, have not been quite able to make the transition to vegan. However, I haven't found any male vegetarians, yet. Does such a species exist??
