Default Cranberry Pear Chutney from Trixie's messy cupboard

CRANBERRY PEAR CHUTNEY

1 onion cut into rings

6 cloves of garlic chopped

3 cups fresh cranberries

1 cup of sugar

3 firm pears, peeled and cored

1 large juicy lemon

½ apple juice not the concentrate crap! (you will be spanked by BB if you use the bad stuff)

Mustard seeds a handful (small hand)

1 hot jalapeno diced

¼ cup currants dry

¼ cup dried mango chopped

Olive oil, the smallest pinch of salt

1. Saute onions and garlic salt and jalapeno in olive oil until soft. Add mustard seeds.

2. In a sauce pan, cook cranberries and sugar over medium low flame until berries release juice, about 8 minutes.

3. Cut pears into ½” dice, toss with the zest of lemon and it’s juicy juice.

4. Add all ingredients except pears to cranberries. Raise the heat to medium high. Stir, if stirring makes you crazy, do so occasionally until the mixture begins to bubble. Add the pears and continue stirring until mixture thickness and pears are cooked through. immediately transfer to a bowl, cool and refrigerate.
Serve with turkey instead of cranberry sauce. This is so yummy you can use it for turkey leftover sandwiches as well.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING my friends at MWO.

Trix! You doll! I have been trying to figure out what to put atop a baked brie *en croute* for a holiday party, and this sounds ideal. The flavors with all that runny melty cheese---mmmmm. Would also be lovely as a little giveaway gift, in a beribboned jar. Thanks and happy happy Thanksgiving!
