Good Morning Everyone!
Aloha Surfers!! Happy Friday! I'm posting this on Thurs night actually, won't have time in the am, gotta get my sleep & get to work on time...not that I really want to! ol Welcome to Day Two!! Congratulations on getting through the first day of Abs!!! Please do not underestimate this achievement folks! It is the start to a better & better & better month (Yes Phil, it does get better!). Remember that old song...Today is the First Day of the Rest of My Life? It's so worth it to go through this hard, uncomfortable, uneasy, uncertain, _______________________________ (insert your own adjectives) period, because it's going to bring you closer to where and who you want to be. So, I will echo Donna and say keep your goals in the front of your mind, they're your greatest motivators! Has anyone been noticing any of their triggers? Perhaps by noticing them you're gathering information that you can use against them? :D Let's get devious on the little suckers! The more you learn about them, the better prepared you will be when they surface again. I think simply removing the element of surprise can make them less powerful, because you're expecting them. Some of them will become so predictable, that you'll be waiting for them before they can ambush you. Yep, now the tables are turning you sneaky little triggers! So let us know about yours as they come up. I got lots of good ideas about how to deflect mine just by sharing on these boards those first few days...er, uh weeks... :eek Great to see you all on board! I look forward to getting to know you all a little better this month as we do our Abs thing. I know we have many obstacles to overcome, and together we can and will! Many of you are familiar names to me - actually, ALL of you are now that I think about it, and I'm thrilled to be here with you guys! Nancy, I commend you - actually making wine WITH a drinking hubby! Miss Layla & Lori too! You all have your work cut out for you, I guess we all do though! So best of luck to everyone on day two!! And congrats to all of you on your abs days, however many you have - well, let us know huh? Kit Kat, 6? 7 days now? That's great!! Oh by the way, as promised, I'll be zeroing in on stress management this month, and already there was a lot of mention yesterday of two of our best stress reducing tools...excercise and pets! Unfortunately I can't take my cats to the gym ol but what a great combo for those of you who can exercise with your dogs!Peace all, Deirdre ~~If I can support myself with love through the small crises of everyday life, I will strengthen myself for the big crises which are a part of every human life.~~ Jane Rachel Kaplan |

Hi there all,
I meant to jump in boots and all when the call up for the June event was announced but...I'm here now and sitting on day 17. Lets see how we go. You never know we might just forget to see day 30 as the finishing post and another beginning of sorts. I must say it feels weird hearing about summer when winter has just begun here and its raining and windy. Good time for a hot chocolate (instead of a red!) Heres to willpower! |

Hi everyone. Miss Layla I have two dogs, a jack russell and a golden retriever, little and large. The JR is the boss, he is really a big dog trapped in a little dogs body, not that he sees it like that. The goldie is a girl and so so gentle, even in play she just opens her mouth at him, while he nips her legs and takes her down. They really force you to exercise and my two are so programmed that the minute I come in from school drop off they are at the door waiting to go and if I dont boy do I pay for it with the looks I get from them. Hope everyone has a good week-end.

Hi all:
Day 2. I'm feeling jittery, which I put down to symptoms of alcohol withdrawl — has anyone else experienced this? On the other hand, feeling more energetic than I have in a while... Hope you all have an abs-olutely great weekend. (I know that joke has probably been made a hundred times before but couldn't resist.) Andrew |

Hi everyone, have a few minute break here so I thought I'd check in.
Welcome fellover! Congrats on 17 days! That's wonderful!! You know, I did think about the fact that you guys in that other hemisphere might find our title a bit strange, good for you for jumping in anyway, with your boots and hot chocolate! Andrew, sorry you're feeling jittery, you seem to be keeping a good attitude which is going to get you through this! Yes that is a symptom of alcohol withdrawal that effects some people. I'm not sure how long it typically lasts, 3 days maybe? There have been other posts about it around the boards. Believe it or not, yours is the first "abs-olutely" I've read! Don't know how this happened, guess I must've been abs-ent that day! Stay cool Hanna! Hope your dog is doing ok in that heat. Rustop, you dogs sound hilarious! They've got you in check, huh? Have you guys read Tawnyfrog's joke "Pet Diary" ? It's soooo funny, I read it days ago, and I still laugh everytime it crosses my mind. It's in the Laughing Out Loud board. Speaking of laughing, don't forget to do it everyday! Great stress reliever, and I think it releases endorphins too. Oh, and drink lots of water everyone - Andrew I think that helps with the jitters too. Ok gotta get back to the grind... Deirdre |

Hi everyone!
I feel alot better today than last night I'm sittin here wishing I had a dog to take for a walk I would put a leash on my kitty, I call her Naughty Ness, but I'm sure she would object. As for jitters I find that sublingual b-12 ( the kind you put under your tongue) helps me alot. Hope you feel better. kitkat |

I had a big old cat that I tried to put on a leash once; it hated it and tried to take off. I was hanging onto the leash for dear life; he started jumping around like a rat on crack and spinning me; it was like one of those model airplanes you fly on the end of a string. Never tried it again.
Thanks for the tip about b-12. |

Hi Guys,
How many of us are in for the June Surf Abs? Marcie, don't the pound dogs, make the best pets? You girl must be smart with the Shep influence. I have a Shep mix too. Rusttop, I cracked up reading your post about your big and little dog. Funny how the dominance thing has nothing to do with size. It's a mental game. Goldies are so sweet in general. They are using them lots now for service dogs. Painter, most cats hate being put on harness and leash. I tried it with my cats, and they play dead. I have a friend who puts her cats in a cat stroller and takes'em for a walk. So are we all exercising? For me that's hard, and I did walk my dog today. I could have stayed out longer, but maybe tomorrow. I am planning on catching up with my sleep this month to help me get by without the booze. Good luck to you all. Miss Layla |
