Default Day 20

Hey Surf Gang!

Wow it's Day 20! Only 10 days to go for the month!

I know some of you might want to smack me for saying "only" 10 days, but c'mon, we ARE 2/3 of the way there right? lol Way to go!

Just want to catch up on some of yesterday's posts -

Welcome Gabby, so glad to have you join us! Thanks for sharing your story yesterday, that was great to read. We won't make you do push-ups - they're for fairies. See, around here we do pull-ups, as we have all spent enough time on the floor already ol so get to crackin' Gimme six!! Congrats on 14 days now!!! That's great!

Alison, i could feel that haze you're talking about as I read your post yesterday. Please don't batter yourself, you've made a lot of progress. Let us know what you're up to; are you now moderating? Or are you trying to stick w/ abs? and what parts of the program are you using for support? I think you recently ordered supps and topa if I remember correctly? They will make a big difference!

Jane... "growth is an inevitable side effect of staying sober" I love that! Well said!

Nancy, I hope you had a good session with your shrink! So what did he think of MWO?

Anni, good! I'm glad you're getting supps. I truly believe they make a huge difference. Just read around the boards!

Becca, thanks for checkin in. Happy Anniversary! You have come so far, good work! geez, I don't know how people do it with a bar right there in the house?!

Janet, hang in there. My birthday is coming up too, do you think that could have anything to do with our being unusually emotional? Well also we're Cancer's and slaves to the moon - watch out for that one!

Shas, you sound great! So the supps have rid the world of one more backseat driver huh?!! ol I seem to have less roadrage, and I care much less about other peoples! Go ahead, honk away see if I care! ol

Steve, good work dumping those beers and gin! They deserved it since they ambushed you the little f***ers! Yes, other people have had tummy woes while on the program, but it seems to go away after a while. One thing you could try is halfing the dosage of everything you're taking, when possible, and then adding the other half one by one of each supp as your tummy begins to feel normal. It's usually just a matter of your body getting used to them. If that's inconvenient, you could try starting with just one supp, then adding one more every few days. Hope that helps. Let me know exactly what you're taking and I'll work with you on it if you want.

Have a great day y'all!! You guys are great!!!!!!!!! :d

Deirdre

Hey Abs Folks!

It's always strange to be gone for a few days and come back to discover how everyone's moved on.... Anyway, I'll have to properly catch up on the posts later...in the meantime, congratulations everyone on your progress and have a great day today!

Hi all:

Well — I'm going to have to admit that this wasn't a good month for me to try to stop. I haven't been checking in partly because I'm so busy I often forget we have a computer, but partly (mostly?) because I've been off and on since mid-month and I'm feeling really sheepish about it — and kind of low. And stressed; I'm approaching the biggest exhibition of my life (in size, not importance).

So I'm going to try to moderate for the rest of the month and try abs again in a later event. (Is there one in July?) The show opens this weekend; after that the pressure will be off and I think I'll stand a better chance.

Thanks for all your support along the way. Looks like most of you are doing well, and I wish you all the best for the rest of the month (and beyond, of course). Thanks, Dierdre, for running this. I'll drop by occasionally (with apologies if I smell like alcohol) to see how you're all doing; and hopefully join you again this summer.

'Morning ya'll,

Day 15 here. 14 down... as in 2 weeks! and YUP... It's paper tiarra and red apron day! Am celebrating by having alone time this morning... Hear the silence? AHHHH! Just me and the dogs...

Andrew and Painter? Please don't be too discouraged. It happens... I don't know of a single problem drinker who managed to either moderate or quit completely on the very first try. Your motivation is obviously there. Keep your eyes on the prize, k? It'll happen for you! I really hope you keep posting 'cuz you are soooo real and honest. TY!

HAPPY NOT HUNGOVER TUESDAY YA'LL

Thanks Deidre,
for your support....I started sups yesterday: kudzu, Lglut, milk thistle, calmes...Took everything around noon(when I got back from the health food store) and took K,L and C around 8:o o pm. Could Not Sleep! I finally figured out it felt like taking Wellbutrin---weird...I'm thinking it's the Kudzu??? No Cravings--yay, but I think I'm not gonna take supps tonite...What do you or other people think? I always had trouble sleeping when I drank, and never had probs when I stopped, until supps. I took supps today..feeling very tired but pretty positive....

Hi gang,
Nice to be here. I feel proud of myself for gettin to day 14. Mainly I feel so dang good. Aside from a bit of tiredness from topa. Well......and a little bit of topa dopa too. But I think that part is funny. I have lost about 5 lbs I think. So that is good too. Still the funniest thing.....my kids have not noticed that I am not drinking. Just no big deal. Drink or dont drink. No words....no discussion. humm......interesting.
Got a question.....Those who take topa and are on 2 doses, am and pm. What times are you takin each dose? Maybe I might ask this one on general discussion. Thanks guys, Gabby

Deirdre, thanks for asking about me in your post. I was out of town, and frankly got discouraged with myself for not being abs with you all this month. Oh well, another wagon should be going by soon for me to catch!

Deirdre, thanks for the support. My stomach feels better today. I hope that it continues.

Andrew, don't beat yourself up. I've tried to stop several times and still don't know if this is the one that will stick. Just hang in there and do the best you can.

I think I would rather go to the dentist than my old shrink!:rolleyes
The reason I call him my old shrink is because I saw a different one in Jan. 2006. Of course they don't agree on any one thing I have going on except that I have veryyyyy nice insurance!ol
He didn't even want to look at the MWO program and I didn't even ask him about topa. I don't want it anyway.OK.. Waste of time except I had to get a refill on Zoloft and his receptionist has almost become a friend and she shares more information on stuff than he does..
She didn't think topa would be a good idea for me because of past history with that type of med.
I had a car problem so I spent a couple of hours getting that taken care of. The good news there is that I enjoyed the afternoon there as these are old friends.

I DID want a drink by the time I got home...but..just took my sups and a shower and felt better by bed time.

Had a good day today and I will get to see grand-daughters tomorrow! Things are lookin good for June here, so far!
appy

Later surfing buddies.:d

Feeling down today. Didn't drink but saw some old behaviors resurfacing...procrastinating, not showing up for things I have committed to.... I even had a mini panic attack, which I haven't had while I've been abs.... This really is hard, but at the same time I KNOW how worth it the effort is.... I guess I sometimes wish I could just fix everything at once.

Just kind of wallowing in it today...think I"ll go to bed a bit early and try to have a better day tomorrow. Now, if only I could get a good night's sleep without waking up every hour and wandering about....

best, susan
