MaryAnne, I havent tried this but go to Walmart and try the l-glut capsules under the tounge thing. Dont give up your white knuckle days waitin for your topa. I promise ya it will help.

Gonna miss you guys today and in the am. Drivin my 200 round trip for a haircut. I know....nutz. Cant give up my old lady. She isnt old I have just had her for a long time and then moved. Gonna stay for a visit with a good friend. Much needed. Not a drinkin buddy or a man. So Im bein very good. Gabby

Jane, Kris, Dierdre, you guys are all great. Jane, good for you on the 22 out of 23. Believe me, the last couple of days were harder for some reason...I'll have to dive into the tapes in the sauna...lol...see what I can sweat out!

Kris, any time to start is okay and any minute without is okay. Believe me, I've had my shares of "alone" time when the kids are gone, the bf no longer lives with me, I don't feel like going to meet friends at the pub so the wine/vodka comes out while I do whatever around the house...don't beat yourself up about it...you'll get there.

Jane, not DR, but for sugar it's the l-glut and the chromium and the niacin, especially for you for the chocolate, use a little copper supplement...little secret there...

And you Nancy & Belle, tempting me with Blackberry wine...hehe. You are VERY strong!

Donna, welcome for all the posts. It's helping me also...

Really though, without continually reading all of your posts, strengths, stumbles, falls, pickups and thelma and louise stories, I'd still be doing what I was doing, which wasn't much about my problem. Now, I'm thinking that we need to lobby the topa and campral manufacturers to give us money to lobby the NIAA and get this stigma out of here so the actual disease can be treated and people don't have to walk around like lepers! It makes me soooo mad to think about the archaic attitudes when so many folks could be getting better!

Okay enough for me now...gotta run back to work. Thanks for all!

Default shame

Even though I would not go around shouting about my issue--it has been healing for me to let go of what others think of this. Everyone has a right to their opinion-but I will not allow it to affect how I see it or myself. All of the wonderful people here are a great example of why this is not something to be ashamed of. But also an example how society can really have a negative effect on people seeking help in this area.

I have read a lot--and I mean alot--on this issue. In its purest form alcohol is a poison--in the dictionary it is described as a flammable liquid. Sometimes I can see the humor in the fact that someone who can moderately put "flammable liquids" into their body will feel bad for those of us who can't. So many times I hear about "normal" drinkers". . .but is it really normal to put poison (which has to be mixed with all kinds of things so that we can drink it without killing ourselves) in your body even in moderate amounts?

Strong opinion I guess, but at least its mine--and not something negative that society has decided to shame me with.

Default cv's post

CV,
It appears to me a lot of the information on your post is similar to the book "Seven Weeks to Sobriety". Are you familiar with that?
Thanks,
Phil

Kris,
I am in your situation as well. I make it a few days and then start over.
But I will not give up...so you can't either ..ok?

Default Re: Day 28 Kris

Thanks to you all. I may be the queen of starting over, but I am not dropping out. I am still looking for the right combination for me and there is so much information here - and people with so many of the same issues. I hope that next month I can truly say I made it (and you too Phil).
