Default day 28

Whether it's playing the piano or making mountains out of mole hills, if we practice it long enough we get good at it. That's what habits are- proficiencies born of practice.
Our habits form our future . Just as a train is directed by the rails it rolls on, our lives are directed by our own habits.
Habits are powerful- mostly because theyr'e too deep to be visible. But they're there and operating all the time. We need to be aware of what our habits are. Every confrontation with an unfriendly habit is a singular victory. Every time we lay a foot of new track in a different we affect the quality of our future. Every time counts. :P

Judie, you have an uncanny knack for coming up with a very timely quote or affirmation! I have been thinking about doing some different things these days, and the bad habit of laziness gets in my way!!:rolleyes So as soon as I get off here, I'm going to go write an e-mail to get something started that I've wanted to get started to get the ball rolling on something, namely a study group for like minded practitioners. :rollin Also, I've gotten sloppy AGAIN about doing my hypno!!! Isn't everyone surprised?? So I need to get back on those train tracks and keep building some new ones, too, if I want to keep moving forward.

The sun is visible for the first time since last Friday!!! Yahoo!!!

Love to all!

Default good day?

Hi there everyone! I woke up extra early (5AM instead of 6AM) so did a bunch of laundry..this always happens my first couple days of abs. Had a great mindset and came into the office .....WE HAVE NO AIR CONDITIONING!!! It is like 80degrees in herew/ humidity of 90%! I am going to try to stay positive and not drink over this though!!

A question: Who has all the hypno tapes?? Would you advise to just get the one she has int he book for $28 if you are strapped for $$?? Or wait and buy all of them???

By the way, Judie, great way to start off today.......trying to go on different tracks too, just like you Kathy! That is why I think it is better not to wait to long to buy the tapes(don't have portable CD player). Read the second 1/2 of the book last night, so am still getting ready and psyched for this change:p

Default Day 28

Hi all!

Wow, Judie, that is super poignant for me today. Laying in that bone density scan room, I am thinking really need to try and stop smoking again. thought about the CD's and last night the batteries went before I was 2 minutes into it. Big help!

Judie, did you get some kayaking in yesterday? I hope so. We finally got some rain last night. Been months, smelled so nice and the trees look perkier this morning.

Kathy, I think the CD's seem to help keep me on track and actually help me stay calm. Great idea to start like minded professional group share. It is so helpful when you are running your own business to hear from others in your situation especially the ones that have the same attitude about work as you. (For me, they get the deadlines and they understand the quality factor and striving for perfection in the artwork.)

Mary Ann, I did the CD's about a month after starting the abs. I did the full set and love them. I think it would be worth a shot to try for the one as soon as you can afford it. Good for you gearing yourself up for this.

Well, no test results on anyone yet. thanks so much for all of your support and prayers - you gals are the best!

Had 3 drinks last night and just think I better go back to abs for a couple days cause my head is so wanting to be in the wrong place about now!

:P :d

Well Kathy, I guess somehow I get lucky sometimes with those meditations....:rolleyes ...I have a daily meditations book. It's one of the Hazelden Meditation Series, this one is "Days of Joy, Days of Healing", for adult children...I think I paid a quarter or 50cents for it @ a used book store. I just open it up to whatever page catches my eye...:eek

So Kathy, ya still thinking of picking up a waitressing job? We could use some good help out here @ the Porthole! (the "hole" as we call it around here!)It's great for the pocketbook, but too much of it can be detrimental to your health...Mental & Physical!!:b I think I've lost about 12 lbs in past 2 mo, and I'm getting a bit sarcastic! Need to pace myself better...8)

Mary Ann, Congrats on the abs days, sounds like you're feeling better. I sent you an EZ...Another good book, my new favorite, that Rebecca turned me onto is, "LIFE is Short-Wear Your Party Pants", by Loretta LaRoche. It's excellent!ol

Well it was nice to take the day off yesterday. I didn't hardly do anything though. I was still tired from a long week with a lot of hours, oh well Can't be "wonder Woman":p every day!!

Oh, Mary Ann, RE- those CD's... I feel like I get more from the Hypno part 2. Especially when you're busy, & don't have a lot of time... It's well worth it!

Was an excellent meditation for today, Judie!
The habits are changing for me too, big time!
Although I'm complaining a bit about the drink count for the week still being a bit high, I think back to last summer or the days of winter and how I'd be thinking about just sitting around after lunch with a nice vodka and whatever or a glass of wine or a beer....feeling crummy most mornings during my son's swimming practice.
None of that this year , so I must look at progress as progress, and not perfection, I suppose.

It kinda cracks me up when you all admire my "honesty" about my drinks! I thank you, reallly, but I still am feeling kinda lushy. No prize for being the lushiest moderator around.... wait... is there??? HA HAAAAol . OK, seriously, 30's are too high. That's like ave. 5 per day (even though some days 0, others 6 or 7 or whatever spaced out over hrs... you get the picture).
ANYHOW, aiming for more like ave. of a couple/few per day. That makes high teen/low 20 total count. Too high for doctors, methinks, but carrying on the the friggin FIFTY range per week or so......ummmm yeah. :smokin I'm cool with this.

Went to the herbal store today and restocked my supps. Bought DOUBLE STRENGH l-glut! 1000mg tabs. Was taking 500mg 2x per day. Gonna try these new ones now. I'm gonna be buff, man . Loaded up on GABA and Kudzu too. Adding back in the B50 and hope tummy agrees.

Mary, I hope everything works out well for you. I am so , so, so glad you are here and talking through all of these issues with you and your family. Keep us informed of the results. I'm thinking about you:d

Mary Anne, keep going at this pace! Set that mind in the morning and keep yourself busy as you are. Sorry about the office... that stinks, but you are right, nothing to drink over . Hot office plus hangover equals:x . You are doing awesome!

Judie, 12 pounds????? You should run this thing with me. You'll probably beat me, then I'll be all upset:eek . Jokin. Enjoy your days off!! REST.

Kathy, I feel like you and I are kind of alike in a way... how we go "I'm slacking on such and such... so I'll ____". Then we (usually do, and it's back to business. Self diagnosis! Love getting back on track and continuing to receive the benefits of not slipping. Plug your earphones in, girl . You sound like you know exactly what to do and that is amazing!

OK, off to salon for belated mother's day pedicure and manicure (reflexology, can't wait!), then Yoga class with my Team in Training thing. An afternoon and evening to myself, whoo hoo! Planning AF again tonight. Did drink wine with hubby last night... but got up and ran this morning!

Take care everyone,
Becca

Hi Again, Everyone!!!

I'm getting in the 2x/day check in, and I like it!!!

MaryAnn, I have all the CDs, and I think they are all great. It recommends in the book that if you only have the $$ for one, that you get the hypnotherapy tape, and I do agree with that. By the same token, if you use charge cards, I would go ahead and charge them, or beg, or borrow the money to get the set, because I do think the whole set is valuable. I made a copy of the subliminal which I listen to in my car, and I also have the original subliminal in my computer (the only ones that you can really listen to anytime, by the way!). I bought "speaker pillow" at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $14.95, and also a set of 4 AA rechargable batteries and a recharger at Radio Shack! Therefore, when the old ones run out, I can recharge them and just pop in the new ones (right, Mary?) God, you'd think I'd be sober for months and months, right?:rollin , but I can outwit the best program!!! Just kidding, sort of...:rolleyes No really, I do need to do a better job of listening to the CD's and I know that when I do, they really do help.

Good luck with the smoking Mary--can you do nicotine replacement? I chewed the gum for a while, and when I couldn't get off of that, I went to the patch and chewed regular gum until I was able to wean off the patch. Good luck getting your head back in the right place, and I hope your tests come back okay, and hope the rest of your family is also okay!!

Yeah, Judie, still thinking about waitressing, wondering how I'll explain if one of my clients walk in the restaurant, though! It would be interesting, needless to say!!! I think it would be fun, but I'm still thinking about it. If I had a pair of ruby slippers, I'd love to come out there to the "Hole" and help you out for a couple of hours every night!! I'd sure love to lose 12 lbs too!!!

And Becca, you crack me up!! You do win the prize for honesty!! Keep it up girl!!

Love and hugs!:d

PS, I just re-read my post... about the fifty range.... that was BEFORE the program!
You guys know that, right?
ok, just checkin.
feb: just starting, some abs, some bad days
March: 11 days abs, 1 REALLY bad day, otherwise about 1 drink per day ave
April: pretty good, except our vacation. Maybe in teen range ave.
May: that was my 54321 plan which worked great until the last week, so I was in the probably high teens per wk until the end of the month.(had that 1 wk that was BAD)
June: more like high teens to low twenties, except last 2 wks been closer to 30. HENCE my new plan

So when I look at it like that, I'm inching up with the ole drink count. Not really completely consistently, but nevertheless, it is so. AF today. That makes 2 days this wk already Whoo hoo...
OK, "honest Bec" is done.
