Default Day 30!!

Hey Surfers!!

Happy day 30!!!

Congratulations and a GIGANTIC slap on the back to all of you!!! appy
Can you hear the crowd roar...?? AAAAHhhhhhhhhhh....!!!!!!!!!!!! ol

It's a wonderful accomplishment to have moved closer toward your goals, so give yourself the credit you deserve regardless of the amount of abs days you're ending the month with! And remember how much we can learn when we slip, even though it feels like failure, it's a perfect opportunity to learn about your triggers, your strengths and weaknesses, yourself! And so move closer to the success you deserve. I raise my glass of pomegranate juice to all of you... CLINK!!!

Last night I got so worked up writing my post, but I didn't really know why until I got up from the computer... and then I had a kind of epiphany...and the words "it's not my fault" resonated in my head and I started crying. It was the first time I understood just how much shame I've been carrying around about my drinking problem all these years. It was the first time I really FELT, and not just thought, those words. It's not my fault... I never consciously thought it WAS my fault, but then again, I really did blame myself and punish myself for and with my drinking. The relief in that is just indescribable. The shame and blame came on so gradually over the years that I couldn't even see how pervasive it had become. It had become almost invisible, like a ghost living inside me. But for some reason in releasing it it became crystal clear that it was completely wrong to have this thing inside me... that I don't deserve it!... because it's not my fault... !

So, for that, I owe MWO & all of you a great big thanks for saving my life, and bringing rewards that I wasn't even expecting at all. In a way there is a trade off to this abs thing, and I feel like I'm definitely getting the good end of the deal here!

I hope to see you all for our next abs event starting tomorrow, July 1st!
Again, congrats! And I'll see you next month ol !!

Love & respect,

Deirdre

WOW, what a great support for each and every no matter how many days. feels like we have been on a jungle trip together. we seemed to have lost a few along the way. maybe they stayed in a few townships shopping? and then we picked up a few, yeah. and then we are here ready to traverse the next valley. phew. i like this group. let's get out the map shall we. a friend of mine sent me this card and well, i'm not sure why but it seems to fit. so i'm going to type it up for us;
WHEN IT'S TIME FOR A NEW BEGINNING
you need faith. that things will be better
you need strength
and you'll find it within
you need patience and persistence
you need hope, and you need to keep it close to the center of everything that means the most to you

you need to know how good it can be
you need to take the best of what you've learned from the old and bring it to the beautiful days of a new jouney
Lifes new beginnings happen for very special reasons. when it's time to move on
remember that is really is okay
because when a new begining unfolds in the story of your life, you go such a long way toward making the dreams of your tomorrow
come true

Oh Happy Day!!! Yes!!!
Good work everyone--and here's to the start of a new abs month (raising cup of tea)--cheers!!

Okay...now that I've been all cheerful for a few moments, here's what happened to me the other day:

I was crossing Broadway near where I live when I suddenly fell into a humungous pothole!! Actually, this is to "pothole" as Lake Michigan is to puddle...it is probably incomprehensible to anyone who doesn't live in NYC, put this so-called "pothole" is in the middle of the crosswalk and is about 2-3 feet wide and 3-4 feet deep!! Of course, I didn't see it because I was watching the traffic that careens around the corner at the same time we have the light to cross (it's a weird intersection); so, I was looking at these cars coming around the corner on my right, when suddenly my entire leg goes in this hole and I fall completely down in the street, in front of these cars! I hauled myself up and out of the hole, my cell phone was in pieces, my right shoe was still in the hole, my hands were bleeding and my really expensive watch (a gift!) was hanging off my wrist... I managed to stagger to the sidewalk....

Of course, cars were all stopped, people had gathered to watch (this IS NYC after all!) and one woman confessed to me that she thought I was some "drunken bum"--little does she know!. Actually, everyone was pretty helpful and someone jumped out of the car that nearly hit me and reached into the hole and got my shoe (minus the insert that we couldn't even reach to get out!)...

So, I'm on the sidewalk completely freaked out...like I said, my hands were bleeding, my watch was falling off, I was totally banged up...I called 911 (after piecing together my cell phone...) and EMS came right away and cleaned off my hands, took my vital signs (blood pressure was through the roof), and wrote up a report... they offered to take me to the hospital, but I didn't feel that bad and besides I really, really wanted to make a police report and get them to cover up or mark the hole--I mean, I was hurt, but it could have been a lot worse...the hole was unbelievably enormous! So, I had to wait for over AN HOUF AND A HALF! I kept calling back and they kept saying that "someone is on the way" --finally, I saw a squad car and flagged it down! When they checked with the precinct, no car had been assigned....can you believe it! And even the cops had to admit this hole was huge and dangerous...they waited until someone arrived and put up some cones. Plus, I made my report.

We went back later and took pics of the hole, with measurements (yep, 3-4 ft deep!) and of my hands, etc. I felt sort of okay when it happened--just sort of freaked and my hands were cut and bruised. I even felt okay the next day but yesterday and today is another story....my wrist is killing me, my whole right side aches and I'm sort of moving about like someone really ancient.... :(

So, sorry for the recitation...but I am just furious about the whole thing...

Some really great stuff has happened today too, but I'll save that for later....

Oh, and I had no idea that there was a limit to the number of ezbox messages you can send on one day...I maxed out....hope the last one got sent...

Happy Friday--all!

Thanks, Gabby! Yep, I'm fairly okay...a lot of stiffness in my arms and neck and my bruises look really lovely today.... I didn't go to the hospital because unless you're near death going to the emergency room in NYC is going to make you worse not better! Besides, I really, really wanted to make a police report and have some official verification of this event. This was totally outrageous! I saw today that the abyss is still there, but at least they have put barriers and cones all around it now...so that someone else won't have to go through this....

I'm going to Vermont for the holiday and I have an appt with a doctor up there for Monday...

best, susan
