Good Morning Everyone!
Happy Day 9! Wow, the days are really beginning to add up. We'll be in the double digits tomorrow! Congrats to all on the amazing progress you've all made! Thank you all for your honest posts, they continue to inspire and help get us through the toughest parts of the day! Jane D. I loved what you said yesterday about being proactive. I think it's SO important to use the available tools that can help get us to smoother ground quicker. Why suffer needlessly right? That low blood sugar was a big one for me too. I had to start eating breakfast & lunch, which I hadn't done in years (saving all my calories for booze of course). I became very aware of that trigger - and being so saved me, because I was able to predict the trigger and head it off before it got the better of me. Now, something we all want to know...what the heck does TY mean? Congrats on 3 days! Going on 4 now! That's great! Anni, I think you're doing just great! 9 days is awesome! True, feelings come up but they also come out. You will find balance again. Just give it some time and do what you can to decompress. The clearing cd could help a lot, as well as the supps. As you'll see when you get the book, there are some very helpful tools in this program - add them to these wonderful boards and you can't lose! Lori Congrats to you on 18 - now 19 days!! Fabulous! Hey Kimber. wow I didn't know you had 8 1/2 years of sobriety behind you. What was it like? Good luck with your parties this weekend, check in with us often ok? Happy Friday all! Keep your head up!! Deirdre What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail? **** - Robert Schuller |

Happy Friday everyone! Looking forward to my second consecutive weekend AF, and believe me, this is unheard of for me, even before the really heavy drinking started, the weekend was the time to Party!! I have to confess, I'm enjoying this, and although there have been some thoughts of alcohol, most days go by without really thinking about it--WOW. Donna, you can go to www.hypnotictapes.com for all the suggestions on the CDs, but the original MWO CDs have the following suggestions:
"You are moving into a new phase of your life and are gaining control of your drinking. You control alcohol and you know when to stop. You do not like, want or need to use alcohol excessively so you stop doing so. You need your body to live, you owe it to your body to protect it, for you alcohol is poison when used without limits. I suggest that your subconscious mind block the urge, thought and craving for alcohol before it reaches your conscious mind. Because drinking alcohol in that manner is beneath you, you are too special; it is time to let it go. (Cue) You breathe out the thought, urge and crave as you exhale. You breathe in an inner calm control as you inhale. The endless craving for alcohol is replaced with a new and satisfying desire for healthy beverages. You feel intense satisfaction because alcohol no longer causes you the pain and regret of making poor choices. Self-criticism about your drinking is a thing of the past. You are more creative, confident and successful because you have overcome your addiction to alcohol. You are motivated every day to work toward your goal of a healthy lifestyle. Every morning you wake up proud of your previous day’s progress and eager to continue your success. You see the excessive use of alcohol as a thing of the past. You maintain the course. You make it happen". The abstinence CDs carry these suggestions: "You do not like, want or need alcohol so you stop using alcohol. You need your body to live, you owe it to your body to protect it, for you alcohol is poison. I suggest that your subconscious mind block the urge, thought and crave for alcohol before it reaches your conscious mind. Because alcohol is beneath you, you are too special to drink, it is time to let it go. <cue> You breathe out the thought, urge and crave as you exhale. You breathe in an inner calm control as you inhale. You see the use of alcohol as a thing of the past. You maintain the course. You make it happen". In all honesty, I have not used the clearing and hypnotic abstinence CDs, but the sleep learning at night, and as I mentioned before, the subliminal going all day. So something is definitely working here. Hugs everyone Ter |

Good Mornin' Ya'll,
Day 4 here. 3 down... Congrats to ya for all your great efforts! I'm sitting here drinking my AIO strawberry, banana, cherry yogurt smoothie... which turned out yummy but HUGE... but I'll share that story on the AIO thread. Anyway, I'm thinking how kewel it is that ya'll are sharing your hints, tips and life lessons with each other and with lil ole me. I'm totally impressed with the really honest stuff I'm reading here. I can relate to soooo much of it. TY! Which by the way, Becca and Deirdre, means... Thank You! lol... I'm a chatroom junkie from waaaaaay back and it's just chateese. For anyone needing help diciphering abbreviations, here's a link to a quick list of chat abbreviations and emoticons: www.copd-international.co...ticons.htm If ya can't link directly on it, just copy and paste it into the address bar of your browser... Becca, Ya know... You're kinda high spirited yourself, girl! And tons o fun to chat with!!! Yeah, ya flirt with "IT". Who doesn't? Besides, ya also flirt with EVERYONE in chat... snicker... But in a fun way... So maybe it's just part of the wonderfull personality of Becca. Not to get preachy but again... This is what I'm lovin' about the way I understand MWO. It's partially about getting to know ourselves for the good, the bad and the ugly... and about loving ourselves for our quirkiness, well intentioned hearts and personal strengths... and accepting ourselves dispite ourselves. EVERY person on this planet has an icky side. If they tell ya differently... Well, they're lying. Plain n simple...lol It's not that we can't have an ugly side. It's knowing what it is and either keeping that beast under lock and key, or working to change that beast into a beauty as best as we can... One positive thing I did come away with from AA is to seek PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION. Pansy... I'm on bated breath to hear how your planned drink will go for ya. Sounds like mentally, you've got a good plan... I think you'll do it just fine! Keep that resolve... I never could moderate so I'm a lil jealous I'm not like you... Kimber... Oh boy can I relate! My hubbie also travels a bit and that's always been when I'd buy beer by the case, not the 12 pack. I could drink all I wanted... No hiding it... No snarky comments from him... Just me and my beer. The kids wouldn't tell on me, yk? Anyway, you sound GREAT! Facials? Gotta LOVE it! CONGRATS! Ya did something DIFFERENT! Ya did something HEALTHY! Ya did something for YOU! Way to work your program girl! How are ya feeling about it today? Annie... Those feelings.... shiver... I hear ya! They scare me so bad I can't even comment more to ya at this time, even though I soooooo wanna. Keep posting ok? I NEED to read ya... K... enough jabberin' HAPPY NOT HUNGOVER FRIDAY YA'LL |

Happy ABS day, All!
And wonderful posts everyone...whether or not it's a good day or not, it's great to hear from ya'll and know you're hanging in here... I would like to add something wonderful too....but I'm just so incredibly tired I'll have to save any words of wisdom for another day...actually, I HAVE no words of wisdom at the moment! What a shock!! We're going back to Vermont again this weekend to do further battle with the caterpillars...it looks like it's going to rain the whole time but we have to set up a dehumidifier and take care of some other stuff round the cabin...think twice before you get a weekend place--it's a lot of work!! Not as relaxing as you might imagine...>D I also have birthday party to go to, but since the birthday boy has been abs for over 18 years it shouldn't be too difficult alcohol-wise! People may bring beer or wine but it certainly won't be getting out of hand.... My only problem is that my friend will probably want to drag me to an AA/NA meeting while I'm up there...ugh!! Not only are they sort of grim in Vermont (as opposed to the more "fun" ones in NYC), but everyone carries all this shame and guilt with them--even after YEARS of sobriety. And, I still can't believe that he still goes to these meetings after all these years but that's the kind of the mentality they promote--you're ALWAYS in recovery! Meetings required for the rest of your life!! That's so not me! On the other hand, I gotta hand it to him--he HAS been sober for over 18 years....but I'll just have to do it "my way"!! Have a great abs weekend everyone! If I can get a decent connection I'll try to post once or twice.... hugs, susan |

I am ready to try again. I need to abstain or I will lose my mind. I am back on Campral today. Don't know why I stopped it, because it was helping me some. Will you all let me come back, and support me? I have never done more than 10 days of abs in the past.
