Default Kombucha

Hello all,

I wanted to share with you a drink that I have found to be wonderful for my cravings and for my health. KOMBUCHA!!

If you are not familiar with what it is, it is the beer of the tea world! Seriously! Kombucha has been around since 250 BC and it is actually a tea that is made from a fungus. Mmmm, fungus tea…Doesn’t that sound delicious?

It actually really is, I have found people either love it or hate it. My daughter and I love it and have one with dinner almost every night. The taste is pungent and vinegary with a nice fizz. When I am getting one of those witching hour cravings, I reach for this tea and it curbs all desire to drink AL.

Kombucha is one of those “wonder foods” that contain active enzymes, probiotics, amino acids, antioxidants and polyphenols. It is incredible for the digestion and it does give a little "buzz". Due to fermentation, it may have a >0.5% trace of alcohol. This has not deterred me away from this wonderful tea, and from sharing it with my child.

I don't know if anyone else loves or hates this tea? I also am going to start making it at home, for it can get to be a very expensive daily beverage. Kombucha teas, can be found at health food stores. I hope you will give the fungi tea a chance!!!

Enjoy!

The regular flavor is the best for me, a bit like a cider. I did not like the flavored ones.

I LOVE Kombucha! My favorite is one with ginger. Often if I feel like I may be coming down with a cold or something I drink a Kombucha and I feel better within hours.

Hey greenie-
My friend had a jar of the mushroom, and gave one to me...and since they produce on their own, I now have two or three in the jar.
I am planning on trying to start the tea this week. Have you made the tea before? I have a recipe from a friend, and it seems quite simple.

MOW and Luck...I just bough the ginger and original for the first time this week, I normally like the cranberry one. I liked the ginger, maybe today I will have the original.

T-.....I think you need to try one! Goofball!!!!

xo!

Fly, you're inspiring me!! I'm starting the most serious fitness program of my life this week. I think making kombucha may be in my future! I knew someone who made it herself, maybe I can track some starter down.
It is far too expensive for me to buy the ready to drink everyday.

We used to have fish bowl things and that's what we grew them in and hubby used different teas. He put them in dresser drawers. But then the clothes in the top drawers started smelling like vinegar

I always used to go to a particular vegetarian cafe just on the outskirts of Liverpool city centre with my partner at the time purely for the fact that they served this beverage. That would of been about 15 years ago. I've since seen a whole documentary purely on the healing and health properties of this tea. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention flyin. Another long lost treasure I will be sure to search out in my local health food stores.

Love and Happiness

Something else I have never heard of... sheltered life obviously. Will have a look out for it, can obviously get it in UK if Hippie has had some, wonder if it has made it's way up to the Teuchters yet?? (Hillbillies for our American friends).
