Default women/calcium/alcohol

The All One powder has too much calcium in one dose. Better to take it in 3 separate doses throughout the day. The problem is, women need 1200-1500 mg/day BUT the body can only absorb 300 mg at a time. The excess becomes calcifications in the organs. I just saw a naturopath who did hormone, blood testing and I had a PET scan of my organs. I have dangerous calcifications in my spleen, pancreas, and heart. That's how one dies of a heart
attack from booze, because the drinking woman cannot properly absorb calcium.
Additionally, I have advanced osteoporosis- from lack of absorption and taking too much at once.
For further discussion on my results, see my thread in "Just Starting Out"

Anne--do you know if any insurance companies cover naturopathic treatment? Just curious, probably not one in my area.

Default Wow- good info

I never even thought to try insurance, but I am under-insured.
I doubt they would pay for the potions, though.
Keep us posted on that.

The All-One I have only has 510 mg in one serving so that is confusing?

I was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency so also take calcium pills with vitamin D in them but will definitely spread them out over the day. Thanks for the info.

Default different potion

I take the "Active Senior" All One, which has more calcium. It sounds like you're doing fine w/ the extra calcium and the Vit D, of course.
This Vitamin D and calcium thing is pretty new- the high levels suggested.
Dr. Weill's website is good and free. Just 'search' any topic and he's on it.
He's a MD that also embraces alternative stuff, and is up w/ all the current studies.

Hi Anne. Just wanted to thank you for sharing all the details here and in Starting Out you learned from your doc (naturopath) recently. I find it all very interesting as I saw a new doc exactly two weeks ago regarding some suspected hormone issues. I started out thinking low thyroid. Some of my symptoms line up like magic, but some do not. As I kept researching (Bless the internet!) I started suspecting that I might have some more complex hormonal issues going on. (menopause)

LOL - We see a holistic vet with our dogs who we just LOVE LOVE LOVE. I called HER to get a referral to a good doctor for people. The women I saw is an MD, and has had a family practice for many years. Several years ago when SHE hit menopause, she started having some symptoms i.e. hot flashes so severe she could barely function to work all day. She started doing her own research, and became her own first patient. You should see her now - a very vibrant 51 year old. Anyway, she is passionate about helping people with hormone problems with custom bio-identical hormone solutions.

Anyway, it sounds like you had some of the same tests done on you that she did on me. My follow up appointment is next Friday, and I can't wait to get the results. I did tell her during my appointment that I recently quit drinking. She didn't ask me any further questions...so we did not discuss exacly how MUCH drinking I had just quit. I figure I will let the chips fall where they may when we talk about the blood work.

I also did the spit test like you - 4 different times of day. She is testing all the major hormones - Estrogen, Protesterone, Testosterone, Thyroid, Cortisol, Insulin etc. etc. Something is out of whack and I hope we figure out what!!

Anyway, would love to compare notes once I get those results.

Thanks again for sharing..

DG

Default hormones

Doggygirl, sounds like you are in good hands.
My issue is that I had a total hysterectomy, and acute anxiety.
I have bio-identical stuff, and was happy to see the results showed all that was OK. For me, it is the adrenals and the cortisol issue that leads to drinking.
Well, obviously, and a million other things. At least now I see there's some chemical imbalance.
