I'm the same way. Of course if I drink then I smoke even more.
When you have so many things you want to change about yourself which one do you choose first and how do you keep from getting distracted? Any techniques for managing these things would be much appreciated.

Anothe ex-smoker here 16 days now on chantix. No cravings no desire whatsoever it worked from day 1 with no bad side effects. Seeing as it worked from day 1 on the initial .5mg per day tablet I havent increased the dose as per the instructions. It has also completely stopped me drinking too. I have come to the conclusion that in my brain the nicotine receptors (which it blocks) and the alcohol receptors are one and the same seeing as I have always done both together and if it blocks one it also blocks the other at the same time. Two of my friends who are heavy smokers are waiting for me to make it 30 days as we have a bet that if I can do 30 days then they will give up too. They are getting very worried now because they didnt think I could do it and now I am on day 16 they know its going to happen. They have been smoking around me and it has not bothered me at all other than the smell making me feel sick.

Thanks everybody for jumping in!!!
Secondchance & Myra--you are my heros! Boozehag & memarcie--you could do some commercials for Chantix!! Those who are new to quitting like me--hang in there with me!! Those that want to quit--we'll try to help, right guys? I just had a couple of beers, a friend came over, and not realizing I quit smoking, he lit one up!!!! As I explained it was still very hard to resist when I have a beer, he put it out. But in the past, I would have given in and had one with him. Good news is, only 2 beers and 0 ciggies!Maybe a good question would be---what makes (made) you want to light up? With me it's talking on the phone with a friend, ( and of course a beer) Working outside when it's nice for a reward (and a beer) Cleaning house for a reward (and a beer) see a pattern developing? Socializing. The last thing I want to do here, is jeopardize anyone's quit on smoking or AL, so please let me know if this thread brings that to the surface, please, ok????
