Eating sprouts is good for chloraphyll and they (alfalfa) also are good plaque cleaners for arteries. You can even sprout quinoa, but it ferments quickly.

I have done the Herbal Cleanse by ReCleanse. It is gentle, but very effective.

My counselor is holistic and suggested a candida cleanse, followed by probiotics to help decrease the AL cravings. I am using it know, so nothing to report yet.

hahahaha...that's awsome IAD!! Zen, thanks for that link. That cleanse looks similar to the one I have...but maybe the ingredients in the capsules are different. I'll have to check it out more. I'm annoyed though because I just read the label of my Metamucil, and it contains asperthame:(( I guess I'll go look for plain psillium husks.

Hi OT,

I just purchased the cleanse products from Renew Life (same that Zen mentioned) after reading the book, The Detox Strategy, by Brenda Watson, C.N.C. For those new to cleansing, she recommends using a basic 2-week cleanse to prepare for a more advanced 30-day cleanse. The Renew Life basic cleanse is called "First Cleanse" and the advanced cleanse is called "Cleanse Smart." The Renew Life products received the #1 VITY Award for Internal Cleanse for whatever that's worth, and come highly recommended by Zen, which is worth a lot!!!

The book states that the list of ingredients for a basic (2-week) cleanse should include (or as many as possible):

Morning Formula: artichoke, blessed thistle, burdock root, dandelion, echinacea, fenugreek, garlic, green tea, hawthorn berry, horsetail, kelp, milk thistle, mullein, nettle oatstraw, oregano, parsley, red clover, turmeric, wormwood, yarrow, yellow dock

Evening Formula: buckthorn, marshmallow, slippery elm, flaxseed, rhubarb, triphala

The advanced (30-day) cleanse should include (or as many as possible):

Morning Formula: artichoke, ashwagandha, beet, burdock root, bupleurum, celandine, chlorella, cornsilk, dandelion, hawthorn berry, larch, mullein, milk thistle, red clover, turmeric

Evening Formula: cape aloe, fennel, ginger, magnesium hydroxide, marshmallow, rhubarb, slippery elm, triphala

According to the book, the program is designed to be gentle and should not cause you to miss work or live in the bathroom. The author of the book also formulated the Renew Life products and has several internal cleanse detox centers. If you google "The Detox Strategy" you can read more about the book and the products. You can also take an online test to determine how toxic you are.

The book received excellent reviews on Amazon which is why I decided to go with the Renew Life products, but it's great to see that they were also recommended by someone here. I just started the program yesterday, but so far so good. I am also taking probiotics and drinking "Green Stuff" also made by Renew Life.

The book also suggests juicing, preferably with organic products, and includes the following recipes:

Citrus Cocktail: 1-1/4 lemon with peel, 1/2 grapefruit (peeled) 2 oranges (peeled), small section of fresh ginger with peel

Basic Blend: 1/4 head red or green cabbage, 3 celery stalks

Red Detox: 2 to 3 carrots, 1/2 beet, 1 leaf swiss chard, kale, or collard

Fresh Garden Tonic: 4 carrots, 1 apple, 2 celery stalks, 1/2 handful wheatgrass, 2 sprigs parsley, 1/2 beet, 1 leaf swiss chard, kale, or collard, small section of fresh ginger with peel, cayenne pepper

Sweet Body Cleanse: 2 to 3 carrots, 1/2 beet, 1/2 cucumber

Cucumber Refresher (for health hair, skin & nails): 1 cucumber, 3 kale leaves or any dark green such as mustard greens, roccoli, or collard, 4 carrots, 1/4 green pepper

Pineapple Cooler: 4 to 5 pineapple rings; 1/2 cup sparkling water

Tropical Spritzer: 1 mango, small section of fresh ginger with peel, 1/2 line with peel, add sparkling water to finish

Hope this helps, and good luck with your search.

Sheri

LOL Sheri... I don't think my recommendation is on par with VITY but thanks!

I'm going to order the book. I hadn't heard about it.

I've tried a few different detox products and Renew Life is by far the best. The other thing is the fact that it doesn't contain cascara sagrada or senna. These products stain your colon and make it very hard to spot polyps if you ever need to go for a colonoscopy. If you look at most other cleanse products they have one or both of those in them. It's no biggie if you only use it for 30 days every now and then but I do it twice a year so I prefer to play it safe.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the book!

You're very welcome, Zen, and hope you enjoy the book! It's one that I will definitely refer to often as I work to heal my body from 30+ years of abuse.

Cheers to good health!

Sheri

Hey guys...love the topic of cleansing. Ill tell you. I eat as many raw foods as i can a day. i bought a book on eating called you are waht you eat. it talks alot about using raw foods. I try to eat everything as raw as i can. I no longer cook my veggies. It also talks about foods you can combine and foods that you shouldnt. It also talks about juicing. I can say that i have been more regular during this process. I have been bad about it over the last couple of days though
