Hi Gustajoe and welcome! I understand completely where you are at the moment, but you have found a great site and if you keep coming back, you will get all the support that you need. That vodka is a bitch, but one that you can be free of, I wish you all the best with this, hugs from Ireland, Joesgal

Hi Gusta, and welcome!

Alcohol is a crazy addiction, a real mind bender! But, you can stop and get healthy. The book is the roadmap to how the program works......a quick and easy read! You can create a program that will work for you after reading it. This sight is great for support, but, support is only part of your success. Personally, I used the Kudzu, L-glut and the Omega, 3,6 and 9. Others swear by adding GABA! When I joined, I marveled at those that had months, even years free of alcohol here. I never dreamed it would work for me. But, it did! MWO has worked and continues to work for many of us!

Best Wishes on Your Success!
Kate

I believe this forum is the most powerful tool available on this site. Keep reading, posting your questions or search out similar questions. Be honest with us and yourself. Set an achieveable goal. I think there is no time like today to quit, but many others here taper more gradually, increasing their AF days each week or month. Most seem to believe that you need to do at least 30 days AF before you can even think about moderating longer term - more time is better.

Welcome aboard!

Hi gusto welcome. I think your post to me shouts bordom. I have been af for 3 months and come to realise part of my drinking alone was habit as well as the addiction. Could you change you daily pattern so you are not alone in the day ? Follow all the goos advice all the wonderful people on here give and you will get there

Unhappy Just starting and need help

After drinking 1-2 or more bottles of wine daily for the last 10 years, I need to stop. I started yesterday and I've noticed my hands tremble and sweat. I've been plagued with insomnia and feel dizzy if I move my head quickly. When does this stuff go away and what can start taking to alleviate the shakiness? Please help! Thank you.

Thumbs up Trying to be strong on day 2

Again, thanks to all for the words of encouragement. I believe with the help of our group I can do this. Daisydo hit it right on the head. How amazing considering she doesn't know my recent past. I am BORED!! I was health care administrator who was forced out two years ago. My job was my life. I not only am an alcoholic but I was a workaholic. The transition to stay at home, empty nester has been the hardest thing I've faced. I was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer two years ago, underwent mastectomies and lots of follow up stuff and still could only think of returning to my "old" job. I consider volunteering but am scared someone will discover my alcohol dependancy. Today is a better day, I feel strong with all your support and although I followed my "regular routine" of a swig or two of Vodka before 8 a.m. I sealed it up and told myself I can do it.

You might want to visit your Dr. to help alleviate any withdrawal. I agree about being bored. Changing up a routine made a world of difference to me. I go to the gym instead of going home after work. I make our dinner then go for a walk with the dog. I look at this sight for a bit and before you know it, it's 10pm. I have a self imposed bedtime of 11pm. I am taking ambien right now during this down time and it really helps me sleep (I know I won't go to bed tossing and turning all night). So by the time I wind down, most of the day is gone and no sense of drinking for an hour (although I have had 1 glass of wine in that hour but more days af then not).
Supplements and this sight help. Tried the Topa, it really works, but the side effects were to much for me. The good part is that I took it for three weeks and helped me to change my patterns in that time..
That's all we can do is try..
