runningwind - I quit for 8 years, decided one day I could have that "one glass of wine" and five years later ended up worse than before I quit. Hang in there - moderation may work for some but going AF, at least for a while, will take away the chances you have a "I can have one more" moment and turn it into a "I don't drink anymore" moment.

Tried moderating a dozen times, DID not work for me. 1 always leads to another and so on. Adbstinence rocks!

Hi runningwind,
Moderation......a word that all people afflicted with alcoholism dream of. I'm one of them. I have tried for years and years to moderate, cut down, only drink on weekends, but it just never works. Am I thick headed ? No. It's the addiction, the voice in your head that thinks he is "The Almighty & All Powerful" and he does win everytime. I think that when we are truly ready, and when finally enough is enough, and we accept the fact that we CANNOT moderate, that we need a good amount of abstinence, then we can sit back and take a real good look at our life and see where we are going and what road we want to go down for the rest of our lives. Welcome to MWO Good luck in your journey...I'm right there with you ![]()

Miss October, I know those are true words of wisdom, from someone with real experience .
for telling me the truth, I don't believe a true alcholic can moderate either. runningwind ![]()
