Yes, Homer, there is an answer.

It will come from with in you.

It will take hard work, determination, support from those who understand, inner strength and all the courage you can muster.

Everyone's answer is different just as we are all different.

Knowing that you need to do something is a huge stride.
Posting here and reaching out with honesty was another.

Keep going.

Welcome Homer,

Magic really said it all but a wise woman once said...

" In a moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing,
The worst thing you can do is nothing"

Wanting to quit, needing to quit are all first steps in the right direction but you ultimately have to admit to yourself you have to quit - whatever the reasons. This requires coming to terms with all the things that are wrong or messed up in your life because of drinking. It will greatly help you to try and forsee all the good things that will come to you when you stop drinking.

Staying focused on the good will then help you find the strength and courage to overcome the urges and make the permanent changes in your life you will need to make in order to beat this thing.

Good luck!

Hi Homer,
It sounds like you have taken the first big step. Realizing that you have a problem with alcohol. The next step is to make a plan to stop. Fortunately, you have landed in a great place to help you accomplish this! I agree with Thankful, the book is the best place to begin. It is full of information based on solid research. In other words, you have a road map. You can use this roadmap to develop your personal plan. This website is great support.

Best Wishes,
Kate
