Lightbulb I don't know?

I don't know why I punish myself and the people who care about me with alcohol? It is not fair to anyone. I am currently on day one. I have tried before but something about al always seems to lure me back only to bring back all the regret and shame I'm looking to get rid of...not to mention that crappy hangover.Anyone can always find a reason/excuse to drink and I have the list made of all the reasons not to. I just need to let the not to list win on a consistant basis.I know I have a better chance now that I have finally reached out to a support system that doesn't make me feel bad or ashamed.

Thanks, Lynn

Default Welcome!

Welcome to MWO. and good job on starting today. That is a big first step. Making a list of why not to drink is also a big step. Do you have the book? That helps, and so does posting. When just starting out it might help to join one of the threads where people are supporting each other in the effort to quit: there is a April thread by Croft, an ODAT threat and then over in Monthly Abs that welcomes anyone from day one to day 90. I'm sure there are others, but look around, jump in and get all the support you deserve!

Welcome!

Lynn ~ welcome! Yes, I agree, making that list is a very good start.

Get the book and the suggested vitamins and supplements. They help so much with cravings and stabilizing moods.

Read and post often. There is a lot of inspiration and support here. We will help you.

I drank heavy for many, many years and this place is the only that's helped me.

Best of luck.

Love, Me

Hi Lynn,
I started out here with a "not to" list, which I called my Alcohol Manisfesto. I began posting here, and I am fortunate to be successful. So just keep posting - it is a very strong tool. If you have a spouse or close friend to include, that helps too. My husband had kind of given up on me, since I had told him I was quitting a few times in the past. But this forum made the difference.

Default Thanks everyone

Thanks everyone it is great to know I'm not alone. Each time I log on I forget about my urge to drink. And talking about it makes me happy I'm here talking to all of you...instead of...you know

Default yeah

being here is being sober. I have a hard enough time typing sober! I'm new to the computer also!Getting ready for work right now... Should be a interesting day I work in a bakery located in a supermarket that sells alcohol. I'm feeling strong enough right now to avoid the lure of aisle #11, Hopefully that feeling will carry through the day!
