Default My Story

Hello

This is my first day here and I feel quite optimistic after reading some of the other member’s stories.

My drinking began at the time of attempting to withdraw from a muscle relaxant called ‘Lexotan’. Incredibly, this ‘private prescription’ sedative was prescribed to me by a GP who administered his own prescriptions! I therefore suspect that he prescribed this private medication for his greater personal financial gain.

Incredibly, the original reason for taking this prescribed medication was to assist with muscle relaxation following the breakage of my right tibia. I now realise that the medication was in fact a minor tranquiliser!

At the time of my withdrawal from this privately prescribed tranquiliser (which took eighteen months), I drank heavily to assist my sleeping and to actually kerb some of the frightening withdrawal symptoms from the tranquiliser.

Now, some twelve years later I still drink heavily. If I do not I find in nearly impossible to sleep or settle at night.

I am now hoping that with the support of this great group I may well be able to learn to finally withdraw from my trapped environment, although I do not believe that I could ever go back to any prescribed medications.

Many thanks

Cheshire ~ welcome.

Your comments echo those of so many here who feel the need for alcohol for a good nights sleep. When in fact, it's the alcohol that causes many sleep problems. I have to tell you that to sober up, you are going to have to endure a few nights bad sleep. It's unavoidable. We have all been there.

But the good news is that you can start taking some supplements to help. Many people take Calms Forte, 5-HTP, Melatonin, etc. to help with this process. And please drink a lot of water your first couple of days. I mean a lot! The faster you flush your system of this poison the faster you will feel better. I promise!

Please read a lot of the posts. And get the book as soon as possible. It is a quick read (about 88 pages) and it will explain the supplements much better than I can.

Good luck to you. We are here for you.

Love, Me

Doctors !@#$%^&*() sometimes@#$%^&* good you understand what's been going on with you. First step; now comes the next step. This is a great place to start, work it out and eventually finish. Although I think this forum is ever so much better than a $200 an hour shrink. Keep on readin: you'll see.

and you can do it. Get the Kudzu from this site. It really helps. A large part of stopping is psychological. The longer you are AF the better you will feel. Read a lot of posts here. You are not alone. When I saw that there were many others 'like me' it was a lot easier to stop. Hang in there and you will be fine.

Welcome! This is a great site -- lots of support and the supps, cd & book are truly a gift. I occasionally fall back into old habits and when I return to the site it helps reaching my goals easier. Sleeping is easy now, in fact too easy!
