Description:
It's almost summer in half of the world, and we NEED our cold, creamy treats. They're our summer birthright, right? Stop having to drive, wait, spend $4 per, and HOPE the giggling teens behind the counter get it right! In todays economy, we may have to cut back on the treats we buy ourselves, but here's one way to have your Blizzard and eat it too, cheaper!
Instructions:
  1. SERVES 1 , 1 Mug
  2. Ingredients
  3. 1 cup low-fat vanilla ice cream
  4. 1/4 cup skim milk
  5. 1/4-1/2 teaspoon mint extract
  6. 2-4 drops green food coloring (optional)
  7. 2 Oreo cookies, frozen and cut into quarters
  8. Directions
  9. 1Place ice cream in blender, pack down.
  10. 2Mix extract and milk, pour into blender.
  11. 3Add Oreos, mash into ice cream.
  12. 4Run blender at lowest speed for 10-30 seconds, stop and scrape ice cream from sides into center.
  13. 5Repeat until texture is as desired, usually only 2 times.
  14. 6Suggested variations include: M & Ms rather than Oreos, orange juice and orange extract instead of milk and mint, 2 tbs peanut butter and no flavor extract, light coffee ice cream and no flavoring extract, or chocolate syrup and bananas.
  15. 7Serve in a chilled mug.

  16. BANANA BLIZZARD

  17. 1 (6 oz.) can frozen fruit punch from concentrate
  18. 2 bananas, cut into chunks
  19. 2 c. milk
  20. 1 pt. vanilla ice cream

  21. In a blender, combine half of the ingredients. Blend until smooth, about 15 seconds. Pour into tall glasses. Repeat the same steps with the remaining ingredients. Serve with straws. To decorate, add a piece of fresh fruit.
