Ok - I'm a country music fan so my tastes run that way. goodness knows there are enough country songs about drinkin' but one that has spoken to me not just about not drinking but about changing life is Tim McGraw's Next 30 Years:

I think Ill take a moment, celebrate my age
The ending of an era and the turning of a page
Now its time to focus in on where I go from here
Lord have mercy on my next thirty years

Hey my next thirty years Im gonna have some fun
Try to forget about all the crazy things Ive done
Maybe now Ive conquered all my adolescent fears
And Ill do it better in my next thirty years

My next thirty years Im gonna settle all the scores
Cry a little less, laugh a little more
Find a world of happiness without the hate and fear
Figure out just what Im doing here
In my next thirty years

Oh my next thirty years, Im gonna watch my weight
Eat a few more salads and not stay up so late
Drink a little lemonade and not so many beers
Maybe Ill remember my next thirty years

My next thirty years will be the best years of my life
Raise a little family and hang out with my wife
Spend precious moments with the ones that I hold dear
Make up for lost time here, in my next thirty years
In my next thirty years

Tired,...I tend to like country too. As well as good old classic rock...(older stuff)

ToH........I laughed at that line "Maybe I'll remember my next thirty years" I'd like to think I will be able to do the same or at least have some focus that will help me achieve something memorable and actually worth remembering.

My old boss was a big country music fan so when I was out on the road I listened to a lot of it mainly John Denver though. Mind due I learned to play Annie's Song on the piano when I was 12 and I loved that song. Below are a few of my fav country tunes. You will probably know them as they are classics.

So uplifting this one I think

Heard this one as a young boy as it was one of my dad's favourites.

Greeneyes, I don't know why the links sometimes don't work.. I think it's something to do with connection speed. When I open the link at first I hit the pause button, then let it load fully before hitting the play button - my kids taught me that trick

5th I love classical music but often feel like I will need a degree before being able to figure out what number symphony I want to listen to.. it is so confusing! Thanks for the tip.. I will try to look up that piece of music.

And Jude, I also love some country music.. but of course it is what you are most familiar with - there is a great deal I have yet to learn.. thanks for the links guys!

Here is a song that is a bit of an anthem for me on my ipod:

Something that I felt today, something that I heard
Swingin' from the chandeliers, hanging on your word
I remember watchin' you, once upon a time
Dancing from across the room, in another life

A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how
A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how

Lookin' back to find my way, never seemed so hard
Yesterday's been laid to rest, changing of the guard
I would never change a thing, even if I could
All the songs we used to sing, everything was good

A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how
A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how

One more year that you're not here has gone and passed you by
What happened to you, what happened to you?
One more tear that you won't hear has gone and passed you by
What happened to you, what happened to you?

A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how
A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how

A little bit of resolve
One more year that you're not here
Has gone and passed you by (A little bit of resolve)
A little bit of resolve
One more year that you're not here
Has gone and passed you by (A little bit of resolve)

Here is another amazing artist, originally Russian, not sure but think she has lived in America and New Zealand. This is a great song -

Here is something live from Regina (I first heard about Lollapalooza from Hippe):

Wow Wow Wow I have so enjoyed the links from Judie and Hippie... so much gratitude coming from here! I am a complete genre dag in that I do not know the difference between one type of music and another. I think a lot of my new&old favourite aussie bands could possibly be construed as country??? please let me know in future?

Here is something fun I found completely by accident.. Country?? I dunno.. but CUTE!!

(As my Dad would have said.. can anyone relate?)

Lyrics:
Welcome, strangers, to the show
I'm the one who should be lying low
Saw the knives out, turned my back
Heard the train coming, stayed out on the track
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I've done all the dumb things
Caught the fever, heard the tune
Thought I loved her, hung my heart on the moon
Started howling, made no sense
Thought my friends would rush to my defence
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I've done all the dumb things
And I get all your good advice
It doesn't stop me from going through these things twice
I see the knives out, I turn my back
I hear the train coming, I stay right on that track
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I've done all the dumb things
I melted wax to fix my wings
I've done all the dumb things
I threw my hat into the ring
I've done all the dumb things
I thought that I just had to sing
I've done all the dumb things

I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings!!!!lol

I used to pawn my TV and stereo just about every month so I could buy booze and drugs when I was younger. We have a place in this country called "Cash Converters" where you can do this and it fast became known as "Smack Converters". It actually got to stage once where even I became ashamed to walk in there anymore to get a 'buy back' on my TV or other goods. I actually sold my last keyboard in this place so I would have enough money to go to a festival. I had a great time anyway and met a great girl from Norway who was studying in Manchester who I saw for just over a year!! so the benefits far outweighed any loss I felt for being 'ripped off' by smack converters in the end.

I've just got back into the FOO FIGHTERS after my ex asked me to compile a compilation CD a few months back. Here's one of the MANY tunes I downloaded using Limewire. The video to this one stars Jack Black and Kyle of Tenacious D so here's a tune from them as well!!.

Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters actually plays the devil in the Tenacious D video!!!

Can't quite work out whether or not I like Regina Spektor yet. I think I may need to listen again later on this evening when I'm in a less agitated mood!!lol

Love and Happiness to all the people who are still contributing to this thread and keeping it alive with such great music.

Hippie
