I'm listening to this book, "Paula Spenser" by Roddy Doyle. It's about a newly recovering alcoholic single mom. Very realistic...I think Roddy Doyle knows what she's writing about. One of the incidents in the book made me smile. The main character was in a market buying booze (what else?), & had to buy all sorts of other things she neither needed nor wanted. She did this in order to "fool" the check-out person. I know I've done that. I didn't want my bottle to go down the conveyer belt alone (too obvious), so I had to get a bunch of other stuff I didn't really want. Mary

I must give that a read Mary ,Ive never heard of it . I too can understand the disguising the booze nonsence .I at one time used to go to a different off licence every day so I would not be revealed as an alco by the local community!!! Who was I fooling!
