    Tormented by Andy McLaren

"Tormented" is the autobiography of a scottish footballer (soccer player). Andy, like so many other scottish footballers, is a man of great talent, but who has lost everything through alcohol and drugs. In this remarkably frank and honest book, Andy begins by telling of his suicide attempt and then goes on to tell of his spiral out of control through addiction and the negative impact that it had, not just on his game, but, more importantly for him, his family. McLaren tells of how testing positive in a random drugs test seemed at the time to be the end of his world, but was in fact the beginning of his road to redemption. Try this book for yourself for an insight into british football and the mind of an addict; I'm sure you'll find some identification here and feel nothing but admiration for a young man who has pulled himself back from the brink to regain control over a life he thought was over.
