    hi there mods, happy 12th!!

I am going your way, so let us go hand in hand. You help me and I'll help you. We shall not be here very long....so let us help one another while we may.
    -William Morris

Thought that was nice, had a ring to it .....sorta what we do here, so I thought I'd share it w/ my helpers....you do help me stay sane guys!!:happy :lol :h (as sane as that may be!)

Hope everyone is having a decent Wednesday!

Need to get something out: I was told my my opthalmologist that it looks like I have glaucoma.....I make an appt w/ a glaucoma specialist, but can't get in til 8/11! (this small town has NO docs!!!)>: ....and my insurance limits me too...........

good news......my baby brother is coming home from Iraq July 22:happy :h , and we are having a huge pig roast in Pennsylvania on 8/5/06 for him (about 2 days drive from here, will leave Thurs PM, be back here Mon. PM.....fly-by night tour!)

BOTH things I used to REALLY drink and get SMASHED over!! YIKES!!! : This may be why I am having a little difficulty, as I have just learned these things in the past week, and haven't really vented!

    Thanks for letting me...............uh, vent......

still AF today and was last night, intend on stayin that way tomorrow too, hope you guys are having a great day!!

    hi there mods, happy 12th!!

I wanted to touch back in. Really not much going on. I am very please this time around with the program. I tried it before without the Topa, and the new supps and did not do very well. I'm into my 2nd week on Topa and I have decided to stay at 25mg for now. It seems to be working just fine. I did not comsume a vat of booze last Sunday when I was home alone. Dad had taken the kids out all day and normally I would have drank all day and then passed out and been in bed by the time they got home. Sunday had historically been my worse day of the week. I did take extra supps, the L-Glut really works, it you have not tried it, please do. Chemistry? Magic? Cause it sure is not will power!

On the husband drinking, mine seems to drinking extra because he has a designated driver more often then not lately? any comments on this. It is already getting pretty old.

      hi there mods, happy 12th!!

Hey everybody! Pretty quiet around here...Hope everyone's having a great, busy summer...
Another drizzly, grey, day here, so I'm being sorta lazy, doing chores...
Really itchin to get my kayak out in the ocean...I looked at wetsuits yesterday:rolleyes . It was a real calm day on the ocean..looked more like a lake than the Pacific. It just never gets warm in the water. But I don't plan on getting "in" it... just "on " it...although, if I were to get dumped a wetsuit would be a good thing to have.
My Hubby thinks I'm crazy to even consider going out in alone... but I go in the river alone all the time. Also, I would only go in some of the little protected coves, not out in the open ocean. ( I have done the Grand Canyon in my kayak, sure looked a lot more extreme than the "Pacific Lake" did yesterday!) I must be getting old & careful!!:eek
There's a kayak store down in Brookings, next town south, Maybe I'll just go hang out, & try to hook up with some folks going for a paddle....

Mary Ann, That's pretty scarey news about glaucoma. Is this just since you've started the topa? Let us know, what the Doc says... and sending prayers your way:h , to your brother as well:P :d

frmca, I've noticed, or it seems, like my Hubby drinks more... the more I try not to! Weird! I think that's a lot of the reason this program is soo perfect for me, as opposed to AA. I've quit cold turkey, time & time again. Begged Hubby not to bring it home, or at least in the house... during these times... and of course, it slowly works it's way back in a little at a time. I just don't have the will power, or the patience, to sit in my own home, while someone enjoys a drink, right next to me... while I'm doing all I can not to grab it out their hand, and either dump it out, or chug it!>: :eek
So, if I'm able to have a few as well, and not go overboard... I can live with that! :P :h :d ....Judie

        hi there mods, happy 12th!!

        me again

It is just Mary Anne again............it does get old when they drink soooo much, and there are alot of us in that boat, just kinda laugh inside and enjoy "not being in his shoes" and waking up w/ a hangover: :rollin

I was wonderin if 25mg would have been enough topa for me, cuz I seemed fine at that and beer tasted like sh*t on it.........now that I am up higher, I seem worse (huh!?)......: maybe I need to try an experiment?)

but the designated driver thing, the way to look at it is, that at least you are both safer that way, right??:h :happy

          hi there mods, happy 12th!!

          Re: me again

I'm just a writing fool today, must be slow at work.

It has been helpful to hear about the hubbiespartners out here and mine is a lot like a lot of them. He is supportive in that, it is ok to do this as long as it doesn't interfere with his drinking. He comes from the drinking family, I come from the more "liberal" side of things. We have a great marriage and have been together a long time, but he does not think I have drinking problem "blinders on please". I had a real mess up a few weeks back and he did have to acknowledge that, but this is rare.

As for his drinking, I will have to let that be his thing. (let's see how I feel about this a couple of months from now, ha ha)

I will just keep waking up not feeling like crud.

Almost forgot, yes! beer does taste kind of bad right now, Hum?

            hi there mods, happy 12th!!

            Hi All,

Since I'm single, I don't have a partner to bounce things off of or to watch how much I've been drinking, etc. But just watching the dynamics of other couples, there is usually an "identified problem", and when that "problem" starts improving, the problems of the other person start becoming more apparent! Hmmmm! There's also a tendency toward resisting even desired change on the partner's part!

So stick to your guns my friends!!! Either your husbands will have to change to accomodate you, or you might be asking them to make some changes yourself one of these days!!!:rollin

Mary Anne, I am so happy that your brother is coming safely home from Iraq!! He doesn't have to go back, I hope???? I pray!! I hope that your eyes will be okay, as well. Glaucoma is scary!!:eek

Frmca, if you're drinking your beer out of cans, it tastes bad cause of the metal, which interacts with the topa. Also, carbonation can interact with it, as well.

I'm doing okay, today. Not getting as much done as I'd like, so when I get off here, I'm going to try to get some paperwork stuff done. Also a thunderstorm brewing. That cucumber soup I made is good, but I've eaten too much of it, and I'm a bit rumbly in my tumbly!!! I'll check back later!!!

            Hugs,
            Kathy:d

              hi there mods, happy 12th!!

              Hey all,

Thankful my brother doesn't have to go back(not that he has said yet anyway...he is 40 yrs old....that may not stop them though?!) :

My eyes are not caused by the topa, I definitely asked him that, in fact he said he noted it 4 yrs ago when he saw me last and said he told me so (but I swear I have NO memory whatsoever of him telling me!!!) :eek

So that is why beer tasted so bad??!!:lol :h I thought it was the topa working, and I was like"WOW" this stuff works already, GREAT!!!!.......guess I'll stay at this dose for a while, go to 100mg on Mon.

Turning in soon, night all....check in w/ you all tomorrow!!!:h
