Just trying to get my head around starting abstinence again.I have been a member for a while but fail every time I try to stop drinking. I have only lasted af for 5 days in the last 40 odd years.

I've also only been af 8days in ten years.
i'm on day 2 for the 100th time but intend to stick with this!
I must...
Stay on board,alot of us here are in same boat,read the sories on those here who were at rock bottom and pulled themselves out of it.
They're going to be my salvation i hope.
We all have the strength to beat this,for me it's not finding the strength but keeping the damn thing...

Thank you all so much for the welcome. Saturday evening and this is about the time I want my first drink. I am going to do some ironing and try and distract myself for a few hours and hopefully by then the craving will have gone.Comment

Told my counselor i was having some here and there.
She replied, haven't you suffered enough from drinking?
apparently so, i have not stop completely yet.

Well got through yesterday no problem but it is keeping the alcohol at bay for the long haul.
Had a disturbed night sleep but each time I woke up I felt so pleased with myself. When I got up I thought I would go out for a run as usually the drink has stopped me. I ran 12 miles felt knackered at the end but so happy.

No ironing tonight so could probably do a little bit! Weather here lovely and am going to keep myself busy this evening. I would go out for a walk but my legs might protest.
