    Saturday September 23rd

    Good Morning Abbers,

Gonna take up the slack this morning and show some initative...Okay i didn't answer yesrerday about "The One" topic....Some very good views on this yesterday....I dont think there is one person for everyone either...I think after time that the person you are with can become The One...
A good relationship i think has to start with understanding and tolerance....None of us are perfect...so we shouldn't exspect that from our partners..Also having an equal relationship....Sharing the mundane tasks in life...
    But most off all honesty.....
I think relationships require effort..As does anything worth doing.
I,m not saying my relationship with Lisa is an effort...Its not....We are best friends....But we were 17 when Lisa got pregnant....A lot of youngsters like us didn't last...Too much too young....So i think we did something right......
Have a good day all...Speaking of mundane tasks cute little Callum is making me a present.........In his nappy
I don't care who you are...Your not walking on water while i'm fishing..
One drink is too many... A thousand is never enough...Sober since July 2nd 2009

well done macs. many who start that young dont make it. well, many dont and many who stay together, maybe shoudnt, so if its for you, thats great and go for it.

what do I think matters in a relationship...
    respect
    equality
friendship (i think your partner should be your best friend)
    patience
    time
    luck

boy, I lucked out with my guy... I'm one lucky chick. I'm also lucky that RJ put this site here.

I'm tired. We have visitors and i"m tired of it. NOt that I dont like them, I do, but you know how it is.. something about personal space etc... at least they arent big drinkers.

    have a great day
    Brigid

might want to save this one

      love the spice for living
      makes one serving

      INGREDIENTS:
      faithfulness
      gentleness
      goodness
      kindness
      peace
      patience
      joy
      perserverence
      protection
      trust
      truthfulness

      the story behind LOVE.
for many years a man watched his wife take a locked box down from the cupboard.she would unlock the box, take a pinch and sprinkle it over whatever she was cooking, relock the box and return it to its place.
one day while his wife was away, his curosity go the best of him.he went to the cupboard, took down the box and opened it.to his surprise it was empty!he turned it upside down and on the bottom was written the word LOVE. dont keep your LOVE locked up in the cupboard.keep it within easy reach and use it generously.

so-though not in your recipe book,
      into everything you cook
put a big pinch of LOVE

                    Hi All,

Just a quick stop in to say hi before I get back to work again. Love your recipe, Mojo! Definitely worth putting in any cookbook! I would imagine that it also works with family and friends as well. What do you think??

At any rate, I cancelled my clients for today, as I realized that I was being completely insane if I thought I could take care of anything or anyone other than my own stuff and myself today. Even though I've still got lots to do, I feel like some of the weight is off my shoulders!

So love to all today, and say a little prayer that everything goes well. Between today and tomorrow, things will be pretty crazy around here!!!

                    Hugs,

                    Kathy:l

                          Saturday September 23rd

                          Morning all,

Well I have to say that Saturday mornings (even rainy ones) are much better without a hangover! I'm so glad I didn't have to drink last night! Ended up falling asleep early watching old movies on TV, so I woke up at the crack of dawn.... guess I have no excuse not to get lots done today.

For one thing, I definitely need a haircut -- so get ready for me, Lou!

I guess as a continuation of the 'relationships and alcohol' theme, I was thinking about the role that relationships (or the lack thereof) can play in recovery. I have wondered sometimes how successful my attempts to moderate or quit might have been if I had been in a relationship with a supportive partner, rather than doing it on my own. While I think it would have definitely been worse if I had come home to someone who was a hard drinker, I wonder how it would have been if I had someone in my corner, supporting my efforts. Would that have helped? Or would I have resisted and interpreted the support as nagging or attempts to control me?

I suppose it's in the nature of addiction to be selfish and to take the support and twist it into a feeling of being controlled. I suppose there might be moments when the recovering person might want to say "Screw you, I'll have a drink if I want to." But I also think that if the relationship is important to you, and if you truly love the person, you might derive some strength -- as well as some motivation -- from that to persevere. Those of us without partners or children might be more prone to think we're not hurting anyone but ourselves (which isn't true) than those who have those closer relationships.

In the end, it is a very personal battle we're fighting, but I can't help but think that our significant others can help us along the way.

                          ?

Lucky, we must have been posting at the same time.

Good point! I seem to have a vague recollection that sex is an ingredient of a healthy relationship. Emphasis on vague. :egad:

This is another area of life where alcohol is a great deceiver. It might make me *think* I'm more attractive, but it actually has the opposite effect. Seeing drunk people at the parties and casinos in Las Vegas this past week brought that point home to me real fast. Ewww.
