I missed this thread last night as I was on my way into the game.
Well what an amazing atmosphere was created by a full house of over 74000. Pity about the deflected goal by the French but you cant question the commitment and effort by the Irish side. The French are obviously a more talented bunch of players but all is not lost yet. It is only a single goal and I was at the last game in Paris back oin 2004 when it finished 0-0 and we should have won so who knows. We were alocated 7000 tickets for that game and 30000 Irish were there that night. Here is a link to that night back in 94

Yes indeed a big challenge tonight - but here's hoping.

I think we are very light at left full and midfield. If we go through it will be a major upset that will truly send shockwaves around world football.

I think we will lack nothing in commitment but come up short in terms of guile and creativity - I sincerely hope I'm wrong though.

Just on my way to bed.
They drew. So no S.A. for Ireland.
One of the French players basically won with a terrible ref. decision. It was definitely a hand ball. He more or less threw it in the net.
