    Saturday, November 11th

Good Morning Everybody. I'm up, ready to go to Synogogue (I'm Christian Jew), so I thought I would start the thread to say, "hello" before I leave. Yesterday was really tough, more on the sodas than the alcohol. I made it! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are rough days because I'm used to drinking a lot. I got a lot of good news so I wanted to celebrate, but I held back and stuck to the goal. Its coming, but coming very slowly. I admire people who want to quit totally, but I actually prefer moderation. According to the American Medical Association, two glasses of wine a day has medicinal value. According to the Institute of France, they support five a day! In the Isle of Crete, they have one of the longest life-spans in the world. They live off of fish, olives, salads, and yep, red wine -- lots of it -- about five glasses a day! I would like to be on the AMA side, may having three on occasion. That is my ultimate goal -- still working on it.

Today, I plan on sticking to my original weekend goal - three glasses. One at lunch, one at coctail hour, and one at dinner. I am also going to set a different goal for the sodas. I'm going to allow myself one before Synogogue and one after. But, I am not allowing myself to have any when I first wake up. That is really hard. I stuck to the Perricone Diet, except that I had three glasses of wine (my weekend schedule). Perricone only suggests a glass of wine with dinner (actually with meals, so two of three was oK - the coctail one is not supported by Perricone). I lost two pounds!

Well, I have to go. Hope all is well with everybody!

    Take care.

Hi. I need advice. I'm coming clean without any of the usual pleasantries. I have mentioned on these boards before that I have a son who is in Japan and has given up drinking, but he has no support whatsoever, and he is skeptical about this program. But! He has a wonderful Korean girlfriend, whom he met in Japan. They were going to go to New York for Christmas, then fly to Dallas to see the family, then back to New YOrk to see friends. It turned out she needed a visa to leave Japan, and they didn't give it to her because she had an American boyfriend. Now, my son is depressed. He had planned to see my doctor for a Rx for topa, and he was going to try the program. I have contacted my U.S. senator and congressman. Does anyone have any ideas about how to get this precious girl out of Japan for vacation in the U.S.?

a visa to leave Japan? that doesn't sound right, you usually need a visa to enter a country and not to leave. You need to speak to an immigration specialist to be honest. Hope you work it out.

Had a huge night last night, at a friends party, at least two bottles of champagne and loads of drugs too. the problem with the drink is it makes me want drugs and the drugs make me able to drink more. vicious cycle. I don't feel too bad though, I slept for 12 hours and am not hungover at all.

i really enjoyed the night and it reminded me why i like drinking. still, today will be AF or one glass of wine. My liver needs a rest.

You're right. The visa is not to leave Japan. It's to enter the U.S. Thanks for the correction.

OK, drown my sorrows last night and instead of continuing to do that, (I was tempted to put Kahlua in my coffee... I did not), I'm dragging my sorry a** to the gym and gonna see how long I can ride the bike. Sorry to set a bad example yesterday.
          Have a good saturday, everyone.

BTW, Sophiah, I have no idea about the visa. Calling immigration might get you some answers,... unfortunately I've never had great luck dealing with those people. Always different answers...
Good luck though. I hope your son gets the help, support, and love he needs.

Rachele dear, I am so sorry. we are all here for you to vent to. :upset: I hope this turns out with a wonderful opportunity out of it.

I am going to tell a story I hope you find inspiring. My sister in law, corporate attorney in NY was laid off this summer (It was really a merger situation where she supported the wrong team that did not get in and the new team ousted her after 8 years with this company) anyways, long story short, she had to do tons of international travel has a baby not quite three, has been pulled wanting to spend more time with her dear baby. Long and short, the serverance package gave her until Jan 07. She got to have time with her baby, she just got a job, that offers, less hours way less travel and closer to home. What is not to love about a situation that looked so bad at first and works out so much for the better.

Becca - TOOOOOOOOO Funny! :H Gross too though! If you can't take the anti inflammatory what about doing significant amounts of vitamin C as that has natural anti inflammatory affects. I use a ton of ice on my knee to help take the swelling down too. ( I know . . it's a royal pain in the a$$ . . .but every little bit helps.) Also getting in the water helps keep inflammation down that maybe being on the other gym equipment doesn't.

MM- wonderful on your dad, you can do this! Cokes too, I am so surprised you do not have a headache after that quantity of cokes. WOW!

Sophia, yes talk to your congressman/woman - they would probably know the ropes and/or who to talk to. So sorry that is happening.

Allie, hope you are feeling better.

                              Judie, you too!

At dinner last night one of my girlfriends commented on how many people have been sick around us and how she has generally been feeling a bit tired and run down trying to fight something off and on for a month. My office building has quite a few of those people but I not only take these supps (non religiously) I am on a spriulina product and an agaricus mushroom drink. Never got sick last year when people were dropping all around me.

I had a rum and coke at dinner and I can't tell strength any more but I was guessing there were closer to two shots in it rather than one so I will count it as two. Had a great time, nice break the 4 of us get along so famously, all having very different jobs and personalities.

Hopefully early evening I can get back on the bike and not have it send my knee off track.

Love you, the goals are good - we can do it!:l
