    Will make you think

    THINK ABOUT THIS ONE

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the attacks on Sept. 11.)

Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?" In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc.

I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) she complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school... the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.

Then someone said teachers and principals better not discipline our children when they misbehave. The school administrators said no faculty member in this school better touch a student when they misbehave because we don't want any bad publicity, and we surely! don't want to be sued (there's a big difference between disciplining, touching, beating, smacking, humiliating, kicking, etc). And we said OK.

Then someone said, let's let our daughters have abortions if they want, and they won't even have to tell their parents. And we said OK.

Then some wise school board member said, since boys will be boys and they're going to do it anyway, let's give our sons all the condoms they want so they can have all the fun they desire, and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school. And we said OK.

Then some of our top elected officials said it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs. Agreeing with them, we said it doesn't matter to me what anyone, including the President, does in private as long as I have a job and the economy is good

Then someone said let's print magazines with pictures of nude women and call it wholesome, down-to-earth appreciation for the beauty of the female body. And we said OK.

And then someone else took that appreciation a step further and published pictures of nude children and then further again by making them available on the Internet. And we said OK; they're entitled to free speech.

Then the entertainment industry said; let's make TV shows and movies that promote profanity, violence, and illicit sex. Let's record music that encourages rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes. And we said it's just entertainment, it has no adverse effect, nobody takes it seriously anyway, so go right ahead.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell!

Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

    Are you laughing?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they WILL think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.
Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did.

But, if you discard this thought process, please don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in!

I know this is a long message but I found in back in late 2001 or early 2002 and thought it was worth sharing again. I hope I don't offend anyone with it. Like it says, will make you think

    Warm regards

Yes it did Di, and while I do not perhaps agree with everything in the message, a lot of the things you have posted are things that my friends and I have discussed regularly....some things seem to make so much sense, and yet these seem to be, time and again, the things we ignore..............

    Thanks

Di, I agree totally with what you have to say, as a matter of fact I wish you would post this on General Discussion so more people would read it...
There is still a lot of good to be found in this world but I think the bad is starting to tip the scales in its favour... As for that phrase...WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.....We haven't even begun to harvest it yet, and God help us when we do....We now live in an age of instant gratification and a throw away society...Yes, there are pockets of good old fashioned manners, respect for people and things and parents who try to raise their children with good values, but the darker side of everything seems to be gaining prominence with each passing year..

And the acts of violence which are carried out in the name of religion, I turned my back on organised religion years ago, yes, I still believe in God, but, its my God, and he wouldn't want me to hurt or maim ANYTHING....I had better stop now or I could be here all day, but thanks Di, I have read some very good stuff here at MWO but this is one of the best pieces ever....

          Thanks again Di,
Have just re-read it and it makes an even bigger impact the second time... The frightening thing is that the future generation will be brought up by a generation who do not know even the basic rules of humanity, LOVE, RESPECT, TRUST, HONESTY, CARING, I hasten to add not all youngsters are like that but I feel that the pendulum is now swinging away from the light and going towards darkness.....

A bit heavy I know, but last week one of my regular customers told me she was going to take her son, who is 10 years old out of his local school, ( now this school is not a large one, its a small school in a village ) and get him a place in another one because one of his classmates pulled a knife on him in the playground. The headmaster seemed more concerned with the image of the school than the safety of a pupil... The boy who had the knife comes from a well known problem family but nothing was done about it....I'm sure all of you could come up with more examples of this break down in society, what I want to know is, how did this happen and what can we do about it both on a personal day to day and also global level????

          Louise.

Yes it just makes so much sense that god allows thousands of innocent people to suffer worldwide because we were ungrateful enough not to believe in him. It must really make him sad. Poor god.
Sarcasm aside, that post contained some of the weakest reasoning I've ever encountered but then I've noticed many xtians aren't big on reasoning. Self-justifaction yes, reasoning no.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
              Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
              Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
              Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
              Then why call him God?
              -- Epicurus

I suppose I will be smote now.

                Dear Prezmustchange,

No, you will not be smote as God gave you the same free will he gave us all and that includes having your right to an opinion. It is interesting that you have read the rather lengthy statement by Anne Graham and taken the time to reply but then thought of being smote by God.

It is not an attempt to convert but to promote discussion and get the thought processes going.
Thank you for posting and I look forward to other postings from you.

                Regards

                  Prez

                  For thought:

Because of free will man chose to sin...and so sin=imperfection, sickness, turmoil...

True Christians have no self justification...
                  Romans 3:28
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Weak on reasoning...if by reasoning you mean logic...well man does not understand everything...so yes we have hope through FAITH..

                  Romans 5:1
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

I trust you would consider reasoning that man is not good enough, smart enough or powerful enough to save themselves from sin=imperfection, sickness, turmoil...

                  Isaiah 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

                  Romans 4:5
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Consider this suffering today is but a spec in eternity...Where will you be in eternity?

I loved your post Diana. I do not attend church, but I do believe in God. Once all of these changes were made and implemented into our daily lives (and our children's lives), the world has taken a complete turn for the worse.
