AF Daily - Tuesday April 3

    Good glorious morning aberooners,

Spring is definitely trying –most of the snow has melted – which also means I can wear light suede shoes today. Hooray!!! To show just how much we believe in spring yesterday we had a barbeque in the evening and ate outside ( … it was about 4 degrees Celsius and getting dark – the cold did not stop our 2 guests from having 8 ice cold beers between them). I did not let them drive and called them a taxi ( I really wish someone had done that for me on Sat).

The flowers are for Sausage, who despite being a busy mom managed to get 40 days (and 40 nights) AF. Hip Hip hooray !!!!:goodjob:

I have made a rather large pot of Lavazza Crema e Gusto (yesterday I od-ed on the strong French stuff ). No time for baking sweets – besides “hips don’t lie”.

These days I am writing the strategy for reviving one particularly distressed asset – I am feeling really inspired so … I may not post much … as this is the foundation for my next bonus.

Kaslo, you frozen hoot – replace those stashed beers with AF ones … he he , Waltzing Matilda Lav, Almost travel, Rock-solid gardener Sunny, hopefully no headache for Fly, Mo2- pics of the horses pls , Det – I am a Perrier and lime girl and just like Greenie- I too love food porn, PinkPimpedPapmobile, weekend Blondie, Momof 3 and 4 years AF yey, the sweet mom of the Three Stooges and who did I forget ? Sugar … hope you’re feeling cheeky and chirpy

…wishing you all a fantastic Tuesday!!!

    Morning Shue.
Thanks for the spring flowers they are great!
We woke up to snow this morning - but only a thin wet layer ( still snowing though) . The weather is so weird at the moment, it has been so warm and sunny until 2 days ago.
Well here I am on day 40. Last night was very strange actually, I've been feeling a bit rough these last few days with a head cold and annoying cough. I'd eaten my evening meal and was sitting in bed having a cup of tea, when I suddenly thought "I've not thought of alcohol all evening!!!" it's not always like this though, only a few days ago I was really struggling
You are sounding strong Shue, glad that slip didn't put you off your stride. I don't know why it took me so long to come back.
Have a great AF day everyone

      Sunshine and flowers

My first post here and not completely sure how it works - is it a daily thread for people abstaining?

Well, I'm taking Topa and Antabuse and am on day 8. Things are going well and I've lost a kg which I'm really happy about.

Its cooling down here but we have brilliant sunny days still, just without the African heat, perfect for gardening and being outdoors.

I'm moving from SA to England soon so I was really glad to see the flowers and hear about sunshine as I remember how the weather messed with my mood last time. I came home after 3 years as I just couldnt take the grey skies anymore. I have 6 weeks to pack up everything, organise visas etc etc and I'm scared sh*tless but I really want to be with my boyfriend and this has been in the pipeline for a long time now so I should just bite the bullet.

      Have a great day everyone!

          Good morning my friends

Shue great to see you get your gallop back, all to often I wallowed for way to long after my slips, which just made things worse, you on the otherhand have a great attitude

          Happy 40 days Sausage,

          So as for Sugarland, I was wallowing a wee bit for the last 2 days, I reached out called a good friend on the programme who gave me some great direction, I was picking at myself again no doubt about it, negetive thoughts where on free sail, so something had to be done. So I'm out of the hole now and here's what I've learned;

Its ok to feel these feelings for a while, but if I want to much forward at some stage they have to be left down. Learn from them and move on and thats what I'm doing.

I have to choose to change a few habits, I have bonded so much with all those bad feelings that come with drinking, they have become natural to me, looking at myself and things around me and my future in a positive, open minded attitude is a little bit unnatural to me, so I have found it really difficult to take the action and allow myself to feel, deserve and live all the good things. This point has been hilighted to me in a massive way so today is a new day and as I'm going through it I'm bouncing all those yucky thoughts out, its not feckin easy but I am determined to make 'positive' become my natural way of thinking. Wish me luck!

            Good morning you fabulous peeps,

Sausage- you're really cooking! Sorry, I couldn't resist. Seriously though, great job!

Shue- such pretty flowers. They brightened my morning.

Dizzy- a big welcome to you. Congrats on day 8.

Sugar- you sound good. Everyone ( even non drinkers) have crappy days when they just feel off.
That's natural. At least you can't attribute it to alcohol. You have really made progress! Here is a Tuesday hug from me. ((( )))

Mum- looking forward to seeing horsey.

Hello to everyone else to visit. I will try to check in later then it will be very sporadic due to my travels. Wishing everyone a great day!

GREAT JOB SAUCY ON 40 DAYS!!! YEEHAW!!!! Keep it up!

Hello and welcome to Dizzy! Best of luck in your AF journey! This is a trully wonderful place to be!

Hi to everyone else checking in! Shue, I love your planter, so pretty. Can't wait to get some flowers going myself! Still a bit chilly here but dry and sunny so I'll take it!

Shue, we sell that Italian coffee that you've been making lately at the store I work at. It looks interesting...what does it taste like? Is it strong? I like strong coffee...like a French roast...something robust. Do you brew it like regular coffee?

Well friends, I'm off to work. Hoping I kick this cold for the better today. It kicked my ass the last few days and I'm tired of it. Can 't keep a good blonde down or any of the rest of us wonderful chicks either!

              Later peeps!
Whatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Multiplied. What you give to people is what they eventually give back to you. Don't do the math. Just increase your LOVE.

              BE HAPPY...BE CONNECTED...BE HEALTHY!

Dizzy – welcome to the daily abstainer’s thread – as these good people here keep telling me – they don’t really tolerate modders and I can see why. I have tried it quite a few times myself, all with various degrees of disastrous results. You will find a wonderful array of abstainers – from fledging ones like myself to full winged ones like Lav and Pap who are on their 4thyear.

Tell us a bit about more about yourself . I am 35, mom of one – trying to kick the habit of a bottle of white wine a night.

The flowers – I am no Kaslo with the camera (but I am pretty handy with point/shoot/upload with my Blackberry).

Blondie – Lavazza is an extremely popular Italian coffee in Europe– the one I mentioned is very mild and creamy tasting – I use the coffee grinder + French press at home, at the office we have it in capsules. (Nespresso ones finished and are not restocked yet, damn!!!)

Sugar – start small, by liking yourself bit by bit – not the whole you at once – start by saying “ I like my hair today and my eyes …they are not puffy anymore”.

TND – wake up !!! the three stooges are hungry !

                  Hi-Ho Fabby Abbies!

Baaahhhh.. rain on a tin roof! And work rearing its ugwy mug before 9am. Just not right :H

Shue... so glad to hear you back to your coffee-brewing positive self! Flowers! I want!
Sausage... happy 40th, so to speak! You're doing wonderfully!
                  Welcome Dizzy!
MumOfTwoPlusHorses... still waiting on weekend report AND pictures. Geez. Get with it! :H
Sugarland Fairy... I think you've made a VERY important point: It's OK to feel those (whatever) feelings! I struggled with that for a long time. Now go bounce!
                  Almost... safe travels!
Blondie... turn that faucet off please. We don't want wet cheese :H

Thinking of Lav and Piggy Swissy... hope your visit goes fantastic!

Well, I better be off and do whatever needs to get done today. Regular barn chores, fill up and load up the truck, restock fridge, run to post office, hook truck up to trailer, get some work done, and then catch muddy horse and head to lessons this afternoon. Phew. I already feel like a nap! :H

Have a fabulous day all! One thing is for sure!

                    Good morning, all!

Thanks for the wake up call, Shue! Was up by 6:30, but had a few things to, in addition to preparing the Three Stooges feast Coloring my hair, for example. Hope it comes out okay, as it has been much darker since i started doing it myself. Plan to get some foils once my friend's daughter has mastered color at the beauty school.
Shue, you are doing great! Thanks for the flower photo! Still too early here to do any planting, but can't wait for that! Luckily get my flower fix at the flower shop
                    Saucy, happy 40!!! Great news!
Sugar, you are getting more and more positive.
Lav, cannot wait to hear about Maxie's meeting with Matilda! I know it will work out great! Pics, please!!
Welcome to Dizzy!! Glad to have you hear with us!
Sunni, my big Zeus horse friend turned 9 a couple of days ago!! He posted on FB--he is multi-talented, of course!
Almost, Blondie, and all else I have forgotten--wishing you a wonderful AF day!
I now need to do my nails---scooping soil at the shop yesterday made a nice mess! Then shower and maybe jacuzzi with epsom salts for my foot. Since i've been favoring the left foot, I now have a pain in my lower back/hip on the right side!! UGH!! I was so sore last night and so tired that I had to go to bed at 9:00. Having a massage tomorrow--haven't had one in almost a year. If that doesn't help, I may make an appt with a chiropractor. Have not done that before.
My interview is at 2:00, so wish me luck!

Shue--Four degrees C? Are you nuts? :H Damn that's cold! Beautiful photo and good luck with your work today.

Sausage--Hooray for 40 days! You are smoking! Hee-hee! It's funny how one day you'll be struggling and then the next day is smooth sailing. Gotta remember that when the cravings call.

DizzyBee--Welcome to our thread! Yes this is a thread for people who are abstaining, not modding. Best of luck to you in your move. I don't know how I'd fair in a rain and gloomy climate. I tend to get depressed if it's gloomy for too long. Have you tried a light box before?

Mum/2--I never seem to be around when the chats are going on. How many horses do you have?

Sugarbeat---Yes, yes, yes! I totally agree. If we wallow in our thoughts for too long they become the "norm" and we start feeling that way all the time. I read a quote several months ago that may upset some people, but it struck a chord with me. It was, "Treat depression like a habit." Changing the way we act sometimes can eventually change the way we feel.

AF--Making "Sausage" jokes is fun, isn't it? :H

                      Blonde--Sending you "go-the-feck-away-cold" vibes.

Sunni--Aww, I like the sound of rain on a tin roof. I like listening to rain in general. Very calming. You sound like you have a busy day ahead of you. Good luck with your lessons.

Lav--Can't wait to hear about the meeting of the doggies. I hope you're feeling better.

I just realized that I haven't written anything about myself! :nutso:

Well my big news is that I don't have to be back to work until next Tuesday! Can I get a hallelujah? :H I've been thinking about my diet which has been crap since going AF. I've been eating all kinds of sugar and carbs which I normally avoid. I want to wash those carbs right out of my hair and get back to eating clean and exercising. I ordered some of the hypo CDs from the guy who makes the MWO CDs that deals with low-carb eating, loving to exercise, stopping overeating, having lots of energy, etc., but I'm listening to another set of his hypnos now which is supposed to make me love my job (good luck with that one) and have been for 3 weeks. I don't know how I can fit in more hypnos right now! There are 4 discs that I listen to currently.

                            Hello friends,

My schedule got changed today, so that always kind of discombobulates me! Was planning on going to my son's track meet, but for some reason they postponed it. I haven't looked at the forecast yet, but maybe it is supposed to blow 40mph like it did all day yesterday! Yuck! Sunny-we could use some of that rain here--the skies were gray with dirt! Shue--I'd even take a little wet snow right now!

I wish I could shake this fatigue! I spent the morning yesterday doing bookwork and decided to take a little nap. Woke up 2 hours later. I've had sinus issues, bloody nose during the night--I blame it all on the dry air! Will be happy when our spring-like weather returns.

Blonde--I wish you could send me some of that Ginger beer. We used to mix a cocktail with it--vodka and a sprig of mint--called a Moscow Mule. But I would love to try it straight or with a lime--esp the diet kind.

I learned a friend of ours must have gone off the deep end this weekend. She has an alcohol problem--I reached out to her last time she wrecked the 4-wheeler and there was talk of her going to rehab. Since then she and her husband split up--he got the brand new house. Apparently she went on a bender and went out and did a bunch of damage to the house and vehicles--the cops took her home and she took some pills. Now she is in a coma. So sad as she is a beautiful woman with a daughter in my son's class, and another daughter with a beautiful grandchild. I hope she is ok and gets the help she desperately needs!

The other friend I mentioned awhile back that called me and asked for support--she moved away--with her mom. Gave up custody of her kids. And talks about drinking all of the time on FB. She also posts a bunch of hate stuff--ranting and raving and I'm sure she's drinking whilst doing that. Another sad story.

I almost forgot. I could use some advice. I got a phone call last night from a number I did not recognize at all. I didn't answer. Shortly after I got a text from my sis in law saying my old boyfriend from high school had called and asked for my number. Then he called again but this time he left a message asking me to call him back. I haven't heard from, seen or spoken to this guy for like 30+ years!! My sis in law said his mom is in the hospital and he just found out he has cancer. His dad recently passed away too. Did I mention that he is an alcoholic? Why in the heck would he want to talk to me after all of these years???? I don't really want to call him back, but I hate to turn my back on him. I did call him a long time ago when he shot himself in the chest--said it was an accident. But I had liquid courage at that time. Any thoughts?

Wishing everyone a great sober day. I hope Greenie didn't over do it last night!:H And I can't wait to hear more about Matilda!:h

Oh LVT, what sad stories! I hope that your first friend recovers from her coma and then gets into rehab.

About the ex-boyfriend--holy cow, I don't know what I'd do if one called me up to talk! I think my answer would depend on how things ended with the two of you. And also I'd talk to my husband about it.

What good could come from talking to him? I'm just thinking that if he wants to talk to you that you can expect a "I'm so sorry for how I treated you/how things ended/I've always wondered what if..." type thing. Not anything that would be helpful to you or your marriage. But I could be totally off base, not knowing anything about him or the relationship. What do you think he'd want to say to you?
