    Abide in the low times

Have you ever been on the mountain top with God?
It is a feeling like no other!
We can not live always on the "top" of the mountain though.
There have to be times when we are in the valley and we are doing everyday boring, hard work. Maybe we are going through some really hard times .
It is in these times that we must "abide" with Him. That means when we may not "see" Him or "feel" close, we must have faith to continue on until once again, we are looking out from the top!
This is a "low" time for me and my family right now in that we may be facing another deployment to Iraq. Will I enjoy it? Will it be fun? NO! But the one thing I do KNOW is that I will not be alone...and neither wil my son ...ever...
"Abide in Him"....that's all I can do for now.
    God bless all of you.
    :h Nancy

"We cannot kindle when we will
The fire which in the heart resides,
The spirit bloweth and is still,
    In mystery our soul abides;
But tasks in hours of insight will'd
Can be through hours of gloom fulfill'd."

    THE BURNING HEART

Did not our heart burn within us?

    Luke 24:32
    http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=lu+24:32&sr=1

We need to learn this secret of the burning heart. Suddenly Jesus
appears to us, the fires are kindled, we have wonderful visions, then
we have to learn to keep the secret of the burning heart that will go
through anything. It is the dull, bald, dreary, commonplace day, with
commonplace duties and people, that kills the burning heart unless we
have learned the secret of abiding in Jesus.

Much of our distress as Christians comes not because of sin, but
because we are ignorant of the laws of our own nature. For instance,
the only test as to whether we ought to allow an emotion to have its
way is to see what the outcome of the emotion will be. Push it to its
logical conclusion, and if the outcome is something God would
condemn, allow it no more way. But if it be an emotion kindled by the
Spirit of God and you do not let that emotion have its right issue in
your life, it will react on a lower level. That is the way
sentimentalists are made. The higher the emotion is, the deeper the
degradation will be, if it is not worked out on its proper level. If
the Spirit of God has stirred you, make as many things inevitable as
possible, let the consequences be what they will. We cannot stay on
the mount of transfiguration, but we must obey the light we received
there; we must act it out. When God gives a vision, transact business
on that line, no matter what it costs.
"Be still and know that I am God"

    Psalm 46:10

Thanks Nancy, I really hope that your son doesn't have to go to Iraq. My oldest daughter joined the army right before 911 and finally was honorably discharged after having her 3rd child...the threat of being deployed loomed over us all for a couple of years. I'm so glad she wasn't..and hope for peace so that none will have to go again!
    Love,
    Dianne

          Nancy,

Thank you, as always, for sharing. I will pray for your family, for your son and all the sons and daughters that are in harms way. May your family be together on top of the mountain - for good - again soon.

          Blessings,

          Best

Nancy, you are always so encouraging to all of us here at MWO and now it's time for you to be encouraged by us. Words from the Bible come to mind, "When God is for us, who can be against us?" Also He said "I will never leave you or forsake you." I have not been where you are right now, but I have been very dark places with my son who is no longer with us. Scripture verses like the first reminding me of His power, and the second reminding me of His constant prescense is what got me through. I know I don't have to tell you, of all people, these things, but by experiance I know that sometimes a little nudge helps to remind me of His promises. Consider this a little nudge. Our prayers are with you, your son, and all your family. Liz

My dearest Liz, Best, Wee Melon, Jacy and Di.....

Thank you for your kind words. They do mean so much to me.
I know that nothing comes to me but is sifted through His hands first. He is with us. The world is an imperfect place but the HOPE that is within us is Perfect Peace.
I had a time of "Peace" last time Brandon went to Iraq. I pulled and struggled until I finally listened and got "still" long enough to "KNOW HIM".
Liz , you know Him more because your precious son is there with Him.
We are still here because there is "work" to be done before we are there.

There still are no official orders... We must all "stand ready"....in more ways than one.
              I love you all...
