Happy Bastille Day! Nope I don't especially celebrate it, but I recall it from French classes when I was at school. Also I was once staying in a small village in the Loire Valley when it was celebrated - nice! I was AF at that time too and it did not bother me.

Cat - you take care - and rest up well. TLC this weekend methinks. I hope by the time you read this that the dizziness has passed.

Lav - have you melted yet? Or is that the ice cream I am thinking about?
Confession - I looked up ice cream makers on the internet.
Sorry that your garden is being wrecked by the heat.

Pauly - great to see you here with a positive outlook - you stick to your guns girl!

Mick - Sat nite up in the tropical North. I reckon you can have some icecream too.

Here we just has some snow falling but it did not settle. Fire is blazing, heat pump is burning up the electricity and we are all snug and hibernating today.

Bear - hope you are trundling along fine during the weekend.

SF - hows the son with the teenager mouth and attitude. yep they all get that at times/weeks/months/decades. Or express things in different ways. My girl tends to go sad, silent and weepy rather than noisy or aggressive - but we are on a good roll at the moment. Can change quickly of course.

Cinders - how's your weekend - with all the family what-have-you's? Hope you are getting some time to yourself.

Bonjour or is it bon soir PPQP!

Well I had better say bye-bye for now and youall have a great 'ooze' free weekend and Sunday when it comes to you.

HOW MANY CAN ID WITH THIS THEN??

    Recently, I was diagnosed with A. A. A. D. D. ? Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests itself:
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide my car needs washing.
As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the rubbish bin under the table, and notice that the bin is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the rubbish first.
But then I think, since I?m going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my chequebook off the table, and see that there is only one cheque left. My extra cheques are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of coke that I had been drinking.
I?m going to look for my cheques, but first I need to push the coke aside so that I don?t accidentally knock it over. I see that the coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye: they need to be watered.
I place the coke down on the work surface, and I discover my reading glasses that I?ve been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I?m going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the work top, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone has left it on the kitchen table.
I realise that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won?t remember that it?s on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the lounge where it belongs, but first I?ll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
    The car isn?t washed
    The bills aren?t paid
There is a warm can of coke sitting on the work surface
The flowers don?t have enough water
There is still only one cheque in my chequebook
    I can?t find the remote
I can?t find my glasses and I don?t remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I?m really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I?m really tired. I realise this is a serious problem, and I?ll try to get some help for it, but first I?ll check my e-mail.
PS. I just remembered, I left the water running?

It?s the spring of 1957 and Bobby goes to pick up his date, Peggy Sue. Bobby?s a pretty hip guy with his own car and a ducktail hairdo. At the front door Peggy Sue?s father answers and invites him in.
?Peggy Sue?s not ready yet, so why don?t you have a seat?? he says.
    ?That?s cool.? says Bobby.
Peggy Sue?s father asks Bobby what they are planning to do. Bobby replies politely that they will probably just go to the malt shop or to a drive-in movie.
Peggy Sue?s father responds, ?Why don?t you kids go out and screw? I hear all of the kids are doing it.?
Naturally this comes as quite a surprise to Bobby and he says, ?Whaaaat??
?Yeah,? says Peggy Sue?s father, ?Peggy Sue really likes to screw; she?ll screw all night if we let her!?
Bobby?s eyes light up and he smiles from ear to ear as he mentally revises the night?s plans. A few minutes later, Peggy Sue comes downstairs in her little poodle skirt with her saddle shoes and announces that she?s ready to go. Almost breathless with anticipation, Bobby escorts his date out the front door while Dad is saying, ?Have a good evening, kids!?
About 20 minutes later, a thoroughly disheveled Peggy Sue rushes back into the house, slams the door behind her and screams at her father: ?Dammit, Daddy! The twist! It?s called the twist!!?

5,000 men were asked to? complete a survey on what they liked best about ? Oral sex ? ?:
    a.. 3% liked the warmth.
    b.. 4% enjoyed the sensation.
    c.. 93% appreciated the silence

A little boy and his father are walking down the street, and they see two dogs having s*x.
The little boy asks his father, ?Daddy, what are they doing??
The father says, ?Making a puppy.? So they walk on and go home.
A few days later, the little boy walks in on his parents having sex. The little boy says, ?Daddy, what are you doing??
The father replies, ?Making a baby.?
The little boy says, ?Well, flip her around! I?d rather have a puppy.?

A crusty old Marine Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event hosted by a local liberal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation.
?Excuse me, Sergeant Major, but you seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you??
?Negative, ma?am. Just serious by nature.?
The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said, ?It looks like you have seen a lot of action.?
?Yes, ma?am, a lot of action.?
The young lady, tiring of trying to start up a conversation, said, ?You know, you should lighten up a little. Relax and enjoy yourself.?
The Sergeant Major just stared at her in his serious manner. Finally the young lady said, ?You know, I hope you don?t take this the wrong way, but when is the last time you had sex??
    ?1959, ma?am.?
?Well, there you are. You really need to chill out and quit taking everything so seriously! I mean no sex since 1959!? She took his hand and led him to a private room where she proceeded to ?relax? him several times.
Afterwards, panting for breath, she leaned against his bare chest and said, ?Wow, you sure didn?t forget much since 1959!?
The Sergeant Major, glancing at his watch, said in his serious voice, ?I hope not, it?s only 2130 now.?

The only way to pull off a Sunday afternoon ?quickie? with their 8-year old son in the apartment was to send him out on the balcony with a Popsicle and tell him to report on all the neighborhood activities.
He began his commentary as his parents put their plan into operation: ?There?s a car being towed from the parking lot,? he shouted.
    ?An ambulance just drove by!?
?Looks like the Andersons have company,? he called out.
    ?Matt?s riding a new bike!?
?Looks like the Sanders are moving!?
?Jason is on his skate board?.?
After a few moments he announced, ?The Coopers are having sex!!?
Startled, his mother and dad shot up in bed! Dad cautiously called out, ?How do you know they are having s*x??
?Jimmy Cooper is standing on his balcony with a Popsicle.?

A woman is in bed with her lover, who also happens to be her husband?s best friend. They make love for hours. Afterwards, they?re just lying there, each savoring the greatness of the other. The telephone rings and, because it is the woman?s house, she reaches over and picks up the receiver.
Her lover looks over at her and listens, only hearing her side of the conversation .. She is speaking in a cheery voice, ?Hello? Oh, hi. So glad you called. Really? That?s wonderful. I?m so happy for you. Sounds terrific. Great. Thanks and y?all have a good time. Okay? See ya when you get back in a couple of days. Love you, bye.?
She hangs up the telephone and her lover asks, ?Who was that???
She replies, ?That was my husband telling me what a wonderful time he?s having on his fishing trip with you.?

Cat I hope that you are feeling a bit better today. At least everyone at work knows what happened.

TT....the talk with my son went well. He really straightened up. We will see how long it lasts. My son was doing something and we asked him to stop. Which he did. But, hubby is so used to getting back talked that he really started to lay into my son. I was sitting in the backseat with my son and he was nearly in tears. I got my hubby to stop, I felt so bad for my son as he had been really trying all day. Looks like I have to now have a talk with hubby about his attitude and behavior.

Up late again...technically it is Sunday. I find I don't need as much sleep these days

Great day of yoga, lunch with my son, pool, out to a local event to see a Beatles tribute band (really awesome we have so much musical talent here) and home to watch the last Harry Potter movie.

While studying (at pool) for anatomy.....I remembered the teacher talking about how important it is for massage therapists to stay hydrated to keep their joints lubricated. At the break some of the women get to talking about beer. They know I don't drink....so they say to me that I would be surprised at how much water was in beer. I replied...."I don't know...every time I drank it I woke up with a headache and sandpaper mouth". They did not say much after that. I wanted to say, " you freaking idiots". Sometimes I question the IQ level of people. But, I also have to question mine.....because it did way more than that to me....and I repeated it over and over again

I am just so grateful each day I am sober. I am so grateful for all of you.

        Good morning Abbers,

Grateful to be AF as well SF
I am also grateful that those days of dealing with teenagers are long gone
        Somehow we all survived!

        Greetings TT, Mick & everyone!
The AC is on keeping the house comfortable but the outside of the windows are all steamed up. Another week of extreme heat & humidity is predicted - crap. I am beginning to feel a little like a prisoner here Not a damn thing I can do about it either!!!!

Cat, how are you feeling today?

Have a wonderful AF Sunday everyone!

MAE Fabbies! Just a quickie here, as I want to make it a productive day. First stop is the garden, as I want to get there before it becomes too beastly hot. The squash vine borers have gotten my summer and winter squash, so it's time for replanting, and in a few weeks, I'll put in another round of lettuce and some shallots and garlic to over winter. Yummy! After that, some housework to do, as well. :yuk:

Cat, I hope your dizziness is improving. If not, please see the doc. Has the swelling gone down yet.

I am glad that your son is doing better, SunFlower. Sorry that hubby is not getting with the program a little better regarding your son. You, however, are handling him well, it seems. Also, your yoga colleagues clearly don't understand the extent of your knowledge about AL, LMAO!

Poor Lav, I have seen your area just getting dumped on day after day with rain. I hope your garden survives the drenching. Hope your day is wonderful and relaxing. I hear we are in for some beastly heat this week.

Nice to see you around, Pauly.

Thanks for the welcome, TT. You sure a getting the hang of being a great thread starter. Wow, snow, huh? I guess it's good it's not sticking around, at least for now.

Thanks for the jokes and all, Mick. Unfortunately, the AAADD describes me to a "T".

Anyway, off to the garden. The sun is making its way higher into the sky.

          Hugs to all to come.

            MAE from south USA,

I have a houseful of grandones this a.m. Actually, only four, so it is not too bad.

Lav, my oldest is now 15. He is smoking cigarettes (and God only knows what else) and we keep catching him. He is a lovely boy, actually, and I was telling his dad the other day that if we can get him safely through the teen years, he will grow up to be a very good man.

With all the drugs out there that are so dangerous these days, and even pot is so strong, it is a worry. All we can do is talk to him.

He is very proud of his Granny, though. It makes me feel good when he tells me so, too.

Anyway, the teen years are back in my life again, sigh, and I have 5 of them to watch going through them. 15, 13, 11, 4, 2 (almost 3.) Plus two from daughter's husband, 14 and 10. Hormones are flying around here!! :H

I am glad we have our above ground pool, it draws the teens to our house. It is always a relief when they are here so we know what they are doing.

Cat, My hubby is vertically challenged, about 5'8" if he stretches. He loved to play basketball and volleyball in his younger years. He was surprisingly good despite his height. But because of his height, he always had broken noses and black eyes.

I agree with Det, if you are dizzy, please go to ER. Noses are very close to the brain.

TT, Your warm and snuggly house sounds good. Around these parts, we complain when it's cold and we whine when it's hot. The weather has been odd this year, though. We had a very mild winter, although it lasted a long time, and now we are having rain and cooler temps than normal for mid-summer. I think Lav is getting all the heat up north of me. I know of Bastille day from the book A Tale of Two Cities Every time I read that book, I get sad. I wonder why I read it again and again over the years?

SF, Funny story about the hotel and the beer bottles. Yes, booze did a lot of damage to me, too. When I am around people who talk about drinking and how fun it is, etc, I let the tape rewind in my mind how much fun it wasn't for me. Wallowing in bed with bottles, waking up on the ground with flashlights in my face from the police, DUI, waking up in the hospital with my entire stomach and innards infected to the point I was almost dead, sad faces of children and grandchildren. Not fun. Insane.

June, You sound great! Your schedule sounds a bit brutal, though. I imagine it is much easier doing it sober. Geez.

Mick, Happy Sunday to you, my friend.

PPQP, Is the trauma from the floods slowly ebbing? I know when the EF 4 and EF 5 tornadoes tore through Alabama two years ago, killing hundreds and destroying so many homes, etc, no power for two weeks, it was very traumatic for me and my family. It took a while for those emotions to ease up. After awhile, your mind realizes that it is not imminent anymore and then you go on to healing. However, you do realize that life is precious and can be gone in a moment. Rather than letting that scare me, I realized I needed to ensure I lived life the best I could. Wow, being sober is allowing me to do that so much better!!

Det, I am so happy to see you marching along and doing well. Have you found some help in the AA meetings? I do, even though I still have a rough time with the HP helping me. I keep working on praying and meditation but this old brain has a hard time staying still. I refuse to give up, though. I would love to be able to have a strong spiritual life if I can get one.

Gosh, I know I am missing someone. Oh, yes, Y@H. Are you settling down into your new routine? How are you and Maddie doing together?

            Anyone else?

I guess I need to get up and make some breakfast for the troops as they slowly emerge from their rooms.

            Love to all,
            Cindi

              MAE ALL...

TT...thanks for kicking us off. Hard to picture the snow falling when the rest of us are melting in the heat. Just to be clear, I am not french. Couldn't pick a username that wasn't already taken so typed in why and it was taken as well. So typed it in French (spelled it wrong) and it took. Don't make me bring out the french translation dic. :H

Mick...well at least your day is going according to plans. Friday started with the Pirated Post, boss asked for help picking up & taking bottles in for refund, wore white that day, then went to my brothers for supper and a visit with out of town niece and ended up twisting my back. I wasn't able to go to my Dad's on Saturday as I spent the day trying to sit/lie without pain. It was exhausting. Back seems to be ok today but will still take it easy. Safe travels today.

SF...glad the talk with your son went well. Boy can I relate to your hubby's reaction, I used to have one like that too. Hope you get him sorted as well. Sounds like the rest of the day was good and I too question the IQ of people. Living with gratitude is the way to go and I'm grateful you're on this journey with us.

Lav...hope you're surviving the heat. I remember those fogged up windows!! At least you have AC, that's one to be grateful for.

Cat...I didn't feel so bad after reading about your accident and I hope you're feeling better today. Glad to hear you'll do the follow-up, better safe than sorry.

Have to switch positions now so will get a second cuppa while I'm at it. Going to be a quiet day for me so will probably pop back later. Have a great AF Sunday all and all to come...PPQP

              :yay: The post stuck.

YahYah...I have managed to get some spinach and lettuce out of the garden. With this wacky weather I'm surprised we're getting anything.

Cindi...things have settled down here now. Only glitch was when the Emergency Alert System posted a high flow advisory for High River, which is still underwater, in error. Brought everything back front and center but thank God it was a mistake.

Glad to hear you are doing better, PPQP.

Well, impatiently waiting for children to wake up.

I have the flour, salt, creme of tartar and baking powder all sifted in a bowl waiting for the butter and buttermilk.

Going to make scrambled eggs and sausage patties to go with.

I know once all are up, I am going to wish for the quiet again. :H:H

                  Happy Sunday ABeroooos!

thanks for the kickstart TreeTops and Happy Bastille to you too

SunFlower, good job in standing your ground amidst ooze addled peer pressure.

some good and bad news for icecream enthusiasts: if you use full fat coconut milk you are increasing both LDL and HDL equally which is not going to increase risk of any kind. in fact, if your HDL is low to begin with it will protect your heart health. the real killer is raised triglyceride levels which is what sugar does in the body. so perhaps a sugar alternative such as xylitol or ideally stevia.

PPQ, I'll be joining you in a nice quiet day I think. staying around home and tidy up a bit and do some recovery reading.

Cindi, yes I do really enjoy AA even though there are folks that get a bit heavy handed with their HP. I'm there for my own reasons: to commune with folks that have the #1 goal to be sober.
looking at the root of the word spirit which is the Latin 'spiritus' that means 'breath' I can certainly say I'm a spiritual person as I want to keep breathing! my HP is simply 'life'.

                  be well friends
