    Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

I read back through the posts I missed and must congratulate you, QW, on your awesome achievement! I'm so pleased for you and grateful to you for your presence here as a friend and leader.

BigAl, you are doing so well it is an absolute delight to read your posts! Things may not have gone exactly as you had planned in you discussion with your boss, but the ball definitely went in the right direction. Things are still evolving so keep in the game!

Rava, halleluiah! A washer and dryer!! That's going to be a great improvement in your situation!!!

Jude, great job on passing that liquor store. Reaching out to your higher power was a good idea.

Thinking of you and your family, Cowboy.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.
    Dill

Donít forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

5:43am in Alberta, I'll have another 24 please, and thanks...

In the last 24 hours, these people have signed in for 24 hours of wellness:
    @Jude58 @BigAl @Rava @Quit wining @paulywogg @Ginger999 @dill @techie abcowboy

Today is going to be a darn good day not to drink!
Quitting and staying quit isnít easy, itís learning a whole new way of thinking. Itís accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Thank you one and all for your thoughts and prayers, both Bubba and I were with my Dad when he passed away 20 years ago and I think that experience really helped Bubba with the passing of her Dad. The funeral will be the tough day as we all know when you have to say your final goodbyes. Somehow things don't seem real until they get laid to rest...

Maybe your boss was thinking of your best interests @BigAl when he moved you to another project, not because the one you were working on was too tough for you but maybe because he knew the need for a fresh start for you...

Glad your visit was so enjoyable @dill, it's always great to visit with family and friends when we don't see them often!

New appliances are always exciting @Rava! Our new stove and microwave range hood got here last Thursday but will sit in the garage till next week when I have time to get them installed.

The cravings will come and go for a long time @Jude58, glad you were able to see them for what they are, just a craving, not a necessity.

    Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

Another 24 hours please & thank you.

Jude, glad you had the resolve to drive past the liquor store. Iím sure my Jeep drove me to the liquor store on its own a few times.

A cold start to the morning. I expected to find snow on the ground because I was awakened by the sound of what sounded like snow removal equipment at 4AM. There is no snow so not sure what was going on. Not impressed. I need my beauty sleep!

Mrs QW is having a cognitive assessment done when we meet with a neuro-physchiatrist next week and sheís concerned that her drivers license will be taken away. Not a big deal since I do all of the driving but itís a loss of freedom. I trust her judgement and if sheís not up to driving, she wonít drive. And if there comes a time when I canít safely drive, we have family close by and taxis to take us where we need to go.

Our downsizing efforts continue today with a load of clothes and household items going to charity. Next to go will be coffee and end tables, a TV and a bookcase. Mrs QW worries weíll have to move again so we should get rid of as much stuff as possible. Regardless, the items being donated arenít being used and space is tight so it makes sense.

As we know, the beast is very powerful. Today is Wednesday, the day my old purveyor of poison advertised their sale items. And every Wednesday I remember that. Not sure why but it feels good to thumb my nose at the beast!

Have a great af Wednesday everyone!

    QW

    Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

Good evening Cafe Friends! Holy cow, when my boss discussed "rolling off this project", what he really meant was that I would be working 150% on this project. It's funny how a bunch of little "oh by the way, could you..." turn into full time x2. Oh well, it's nice to be back into production, and I knew that there would be a period of time to get everyone up to speed on the job. At least I don't have to be client facing anymore on this project, and maybe on my next one my client will be sane! It feels good to be entering into this holiday with a clear head, and looking forward to spending time with my family. No worries about when the liquor store opens, or when during the day family may stop by. I have a whole day of prep and cooking, and I am looking forward to all of it.

Cowboy, you and Bubba are in my thoughts today, as are you QW (and of course Mrs. QW).

Ginger999, my number three will happen the week after next. When I disappeared and went to rehab they had to push a couple of meetings back and are now scrambling to prepare (which is what I did all day long today). I don't have to go to the meeting at this point which is fine with me, but it means my boss is tied up and then will be traveling next week. So, when things calm down I'll spring number 3 on them. At the end of the day I realize that I very much dislike what I do for a living, regardless of what project I am working on.

I wish everyone a fantastic, relaxing, and fulfilling Holiday and/or Thursday. I will admit, I paused after writing "fulfilling" and had to google whether or not my Canadian friends celebrate Thanksgiving, which made me feel guilty and self-centered that I don't know more about how and when my northern brethren celebrate! In any case, I will gladly look forward to another 24 hours of clarity, laughter, and enjoyment.

    Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends in the Cafe! I hope you enjoy the celebration safely and, of course, alcohol free.

Big Al, Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated in October since our harvest is done earlier in the fall. I too look forward the meal prep, cooking and the pleasure of seeing family enjoy.

I thought I’d send Thanksgiving wishes before turning out the light since those on eastern and central time are up before me!
